There are groups on servers including belmung griefing HM fights to sell them for gil:

was wanting to know if any here have seen this.
Yes be aware the person involved is a reddit moderator. Its despicable what they are attempting to corner the market on a server this way.
Wow.  Just...wow.  I've already got 0 faith in people, and somehow, this still surprised me.  Truly disgusting.  These people must truly, truly have no dignity whatsoever to not feel shame for this sort of thing.
I'm not entirely sure I get what they're doing, exactly.
I don't see any information about a specific guild on this server doing that.
Session Zero:

What they're doing is putting together a PUG to do Hard Mode Titan, then deliberately dying by jumping off the platform.  Once dead, they are selling their place in the group for up to 200k gil to people so that another person can join the group (which is being held hostage because they can't go on as a 3 man) and be 'carried'.  That's as I understand it, anyway.

I have a friend that plays on Ultros and a lot of the endgame guilds there are PISSED about this.  I haven't heard anything solid about the guilds on Balmung doing it.
I actually did see someone earlier selling HM Titan runs for 200kg. I just blocked them like it was gil seller spam. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Selling carries itself isn't abnormal behavior though. Really, many major raiding guilds do it on some level. Exchanging goods for services rendered is a completely legitimate method of acquiring wealth.

The amount changing hands here though is excessive and mingles with the realm of RMT. Even if it's not harassment it IS disrupting the economy. And you can bet that'll get them shut down, probably even sooner.

So... people pay because it's other high-level players that can aid them in beating the primal? Like paying for the spot means they can get past the fight easier? I guess I don't understand why someone would pay 200k gil for a spot in a party unless they got some extreme benefit from it, and the only benefit I can think of is being helped by elite players.

They get bragging rights  "Look at me I finished titan on Hardmode!"
They get the better quality gear
They get through it without having to study the fight, know, or actually do anything because the other players are good/over geared enough that they make up for the 'missing' person

In one light, It's for people who don't actually want to play the game, which is mind boggling. In the other, it's for people who are screwed by the 'only accepting people with experience/X level gear' requirements of everyone else.

I wish I was surprised that Reddit is involved.

To be fair, reddit is very upset about this and most people are trying really hard to get the accused moderator removed.

You have to defeat Titan HM to get your Relic weapon.  You also have to defeat him to gain access to Coil of Bahamut (the raid).  So it's pretty important.
It might be a good idea for SE to do something about this as it might increase gil buying.
Well, the article identified it as griefing so I really hope all these asshats get banned.  I -despise- crap like this because it destroys so many aspects of the game- it increases gil-buying, it destroys the marketplace, and it makes it harder for casual players to -ever- get into end game stuff (and it's hard enough for casuals to get in with all the crazy 'you must be geared' nonsense).

I hope they're made an example of.

Maybe, maybe not.  The issue is whether or not they're sabotaging other groups' attempts, not whether they're selling runs.  My own guild in WoW sells full hardmode clears with titles and loot to people once our own progression is done with.  It's an extremely common practice in WoW and has nothing to do with gold sellers.
