I know the game has only been out recently but from the RP all of you have done what has happened to your characters so far? In Tana's case she was going though a cave with some friends to clear out bandits, sadly a monster came up and has recently mortally wounded her with a sword wound coming close to her heart.

So what has any of your's been up too? Past or present will be fine.
I have three characters.

There's a three-part story arc of John "JJ" Spiegel's post-time jump journey to find his daughter, Grace. Parts of this encompass members of my linkshell but was done during P2-P3 in terms of interactions. Due to getting a new job, I was unable to be in P4 (and thus Early Access) and Balmung was closed. So I rolled JJ on Midgarsomr and leveled there until World Transfer.

(despite the coin of a trilogy, they're not too terribly long to read aside from a few entries)

At the conclusion of this arc, he along with his daughter reunited with his son, Alex and since then have been staying at Alex's home. In the middle of the last segment of the trilogy, I inserted what Grace was doing just prior to the Calamity. Her subsequent going-ons have been documented in Alex's Journal (see my siggy for linky), though Alex's journal started way prior to that. I am doing my best to do DAILY entries for Alex. I skipped a few the other day but gave a pretty good IC reason (OOC I was off my rig and gaming/RPing the hell out of XIV, which I can't do on rig).

As for Alex, his dealings since the Calamity are (briefly) scanned over in the first entries of his journal. Recently, he has formed a budding romantic relationship with a Shroud-born Highlander by the name of Costia. This combined with reuniting his family has given him motivation to push himself with his hand-to-hand training.

Oh, there's more JJ stories past and present up on my linkshell's story section. One story details the happenings during the Ala Mhigan downfall and another details a sort of third person narration of JJ. (think wildlife documentary... should be read in Morgan Freeman's voice or the narrator from Bastion..) He has also injected himself into others' business or been dragged into such, but some of those things are still going on!

You killed your character within the first three months of the game? :o Impressive! Reminds me of the RP I did when TERA was still in beta, where the person I was roleplaying with killed her character before the game even launched. xD I always felt kinda bad about that, but then it was their choice...

As for Anti... She's befriended a tiny husband-killer, a grumpy old thief-murderer-assassin, and a former (?) pirate. I think she needs better people-judging skills. After surviving two assassination attempts (pre-launch rp), she's settled into a groove with her lalafell friend. She experienced her first All Saint's Wake (and it was a nightmare!). And recently, she's begun an investigation into potential financial corruption between a unit of the Brass Blades and a mafia-like Seeker tribe in Ul'dah. Nothing could possibly go wrong there!

Oh, and she's come disturbingly close to interacting with former tribe members. Stressful times!

No she is very much alive but out of fighting for a while, she survived the mortal wound.
I think the reason for the confusion here lies within the meaning of the phrase 'mortally wounded'.

It still sounds like an interesting tale and the topic of trauma and how it applies to RP is one that has always been interesting - since we all generally subject our characters to greater stresses than most would endure in the real world, things like RPing out post-traumatic stress disorder and other such maladies is fascinating.

All I can say is that my own character - who time-skipped - has been struggling in her own way to cope with what happened at the events during the Calamity.

This.

Though I suppose for Endemerrin, it's more closely tied to the years he missed, and some promises he failed to keep because of his disappearance. Plus the cultural shock of readjusting to a world that is vastly different from the one he knew must be pretty rough.

That, and he's missing an arm. I suppose that's pretty traumatic.
Armi

~ Came out of the Time Skip completely devoid of Faith in the God she was once a priestess for (Nymeia) and it's eating her up. She has no idea who she is without being as devout as she was. She says she's not a whole person, just a bunch of tiny pieces playing pretend.

~ Her mother, remembering she might have raised a second daughter but not any of the details (She can remember vague things, like a second daughter being there and she has things that belonged to Armi), decided Armi was dead and made her a gravestone. Armi seeing the gravestone with her name on it messed her up pretty bad. She sees herself as a living ghost, floating through a world she wasn't supposed to be in. She five years too late to start having a life.

~ Fillion Fenias - a leader of a Garlean team and overall badguy for our story, has shot or stabbed her indirectly or directly THREE TIMES (Thanks dice rolls). Once when they plotted to kidnap her and a member of the Grim Echo, once in Uldah, and once when they locked her in a room with a dude who went all Bezerker rage because of things Fillion did. These events have led her to believe she is weak and always needing rescuing (When in truth her player sucks at dice). I've spun this into her taking up Paladin so she can learn to protect others instead of always needing protecting.

Loki:

~ Came out of the time skip detached. She hasn't really dealt with it WELL and generally refuses to talk about it. Her entire livelihood was wrecked in the Calamity and all her contacts don't remember her. She's stuck in the Night Blades as she only feels okay with people she knows. She doesn't really believe what they do, but it's all she has.

~ Loki has a general problem with Aether after the skip. She's sensitive to it, gets headaches if too much is around and can hear voices in her head sometimes. This has caused her to be guarded and stand offish much more than usual.

~ Fillion and Loki always had a weird relationship. Fillion is almost obsessed with her, in a way where he usually likes playing games but will just kill people to get to her if he knows she's around. Him returning has made her have to go in the shadows, believing people will die if he even knows they are connected to her. She acts like it's fine, but she worries about people and feels a little guilty about any of her actions - as when something happens with Fillion she has to stay out of it or risk bringing about Fillion's rage.

~ She's missing a leg. I guess that's traumatic, but the only real trauma she had with it was putting down the bow because she realized she couldn't maneuver as well as able-legged people - which was a shame she really liked being an Archer.
Eva, Merri, Time Skippers: I have a book recommendation for all of you! There's a fantastic book called The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. It's a military science fiction book about a drafted soldier getting sent off to fight a war in space, but due to time dilation caused by near light speed travel what feels like a single tour of duty to him is actually about 20 years. When he returns home, the world has completely left him behind. Joe Haldeman is a Vietnam veteran who used to book to describe the way he felt after returning home. Even though he hated the war, he signed up for multiple tours of duty because at least the war was familiar to him. When he came home, there was just nothing left for him. Anyway, it's a fantastic book (one of my favorite of all time), and could be a great source of inspiration for the current path of your characters.

As for trauma for Dogberry, he hasn't had very much aside from what's in his backstory. This has been a time of rebuilding for him after the Calamity basically changed his life, and took his self-worth with it. He's grown back a ton of his confidence and is ready to move on from that chapter in his life. Certainly life will throw several large monkey wrenches into his plans, but so far, things are looking up for Dogberry.

I love this book. But I also kind of hated it because you just don't do that to an animal in fiction, come ON man. *cries*
Kneecapped by a traitorous gladiator in Hakkune Manor.

Blasted away by a Voidsent a few hundred feet.  Crushed ribs, punctured lung. Currently recovering in bed.

Yeah, and that kind of totally screwed up the berserker dude, who is now paranoid about going berserk again, but it also flipped him from straight up jerkass to a vague attempt at a nice guy.

His real trauma happened at Carteneau, though, and he doesn't remember it or anything that happened before it except nonsensical flashes. Not remembering is something that drives him bananas and that he spends a great deal of effort trying not to think about at all.

And he's actually got hella trauma back in all that stuff he can't remember, which is half of why he can't remember it. Poor muffin.

I think I might be hungry.
Around the time of the Calamity, it became really hard for C'kayah to get good wine in Gridania. He still shudders at the memory.

Hold me, somebody...

Based on his behavior at the Grindstone this last Saturday he's FAILING MISERABLY.

Oh, Darien <3
My character was a legendary mage; until he got shot in the knee.

Now he makes a modest living selling wooden carvings of chocobos to children.
