They've said they have no plans to ever allow the Artifact gear to be dyeable, due to the fact that it's "iconic."

I don't have a link for reference right now, but I actually believe they had stated that at some point down the road they would like to make Artifact Armor dyeable -- but only once they've implemented other job-specific gear.

Really? Â Okay, I must have reallly misunderstood what I read a while back about it.

I do not know when they will let us dye Artifact gear, but seeing this in the most recent Producer Letter video has at least made me a tiny bit hopeful:
One could argue that the character's wearing some developer-only gear solely for messing around in while testing things, but I don't think they'd go through the trouble. One could also argue that it may simply just be another colored set of AF2 or something, but I doubt that.

For clarification, what Squee meant to say was: "Thou shalt not destroy our holy and most sacred creative vision with your silly individual preferences. And yellow is totally a good color for the monk gear, shut up!"

Knowing how ARR's armors can be boiled down basically to three models per armor class + tweaks, I bet that is exactly what it is. Just a reskin of an old model.
Incidentally, a quick reskin job is not much trouble at all if you know your tools, so I wouldn't discard the "unique developer gear" theory.

I dunno honestly during the last live letter at one point forgot his name next to Yoshi asked him to get a good angle on the bow to get a good look at it (now.. why would he do that?) so.. maybe relic weapons will change further in the game? I recall them saying they wanted to do something like that.LiadansWhispe Wrote:They've said they have no plans to ever allow the Artifact gear to be dyeable, due to the fact that it's "iconic."

All of these are things I had in mind (changing a texture for an MMO model is easy), I'd just like to not believe them because I want to be able to dye things, okay?!Â

But for AF and AF+1 that is for sure not happening cause AF+1 dyed gear if you really think about it.. just better stats. I can totally see dye gear in the future for other AF sets if they don't do what they did with first two AFs.. same design just reskin in color.(12-05-2013, 11:38 AM)Ildur Wrote: [ -> ]Knowing how ARR's armors can be boiled down basically to three models per armor class + tweaks, I bet that is exactly what it is.
