:3 Why thank 'ya much for looking into my little thread here. I'm Quirky and I'm new to the whole mmorpg roleplay scene. I've been interested in forum roleplays for many years, and have also been playing mmos for just as long. However, I've never thought to mix the two, until now that is.

I'm not really looking for any heavy rping styles as of right now, maybe once I get the hang of it I'll try that. As for now, I'll assume a more casual style. My dilemna is lies in where to begin. I've been playing FFXIV for a few months and am pretty dedicated to my server, which is Brynhildr. Dazed I don't know of any rp groups on this server, and I'm not too keen on switching...

I forgot why I posted this. Um, oh well.

Is MMO rping hard? I really want to know more about it before I just jump in. I've read some of the get started guides on this site, but maybe I should look at it first hand to get a better feel of it.
Hey! Sorry it took so long to get a response Sad We are an easily distracted group, and we get a lot of new people to the forums daily, so some posts get lost in the mix.

Firstly, I am not sure if there are any RP groups on your server. If you really want to RP, I suggest switching servers to Balmung or Gilgamesh.

Secondly, mmo RPing is like writing a story in real-time with other people. Once you learn the basics, its only as hard as others make it. However, in my experience, it is not that hard.

I would compare it to driving a car on the freeway, but with less road-rage (mostly). You have to follow the rules of the road and adapt to the actions of others on the freeway while also trying to go where you want to go. Once you've practiced, it will become second-nature.

Welcome to the site.
Hi there!

So, RPing in an MMO is as simple as playing the game, literally.

Lots of folks feel that RPing is classified as hanging out chatting or telling stories in chat more than wandering about and having your character react to the things going on around them. You can test RP out yourself and see if it appeals to you just by doing that while you play, think of how your character would react to a FATE, to the events of a dungeon, to fighting a primal. It can be great fun. If you can find a few folks who want to RP, try the "getting to know you" act of sitting down in a tavern and roleplay interacting with each other. See how it feels.

If you're happy with your server, maybe put a few messages on the official forums out to that server so others who like to RP might find it and contact you.

And as always, feel free to chat with us here!

Cheers
