Not sure if people have seen this, but Yasumi Matsuno has a new Kickstarter project. For those who don't know, this is the man responsible for the Tactic Ogre series, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy 12.

He wants to develop a new FFT style game, and he's got a lot of big name folks who want to help him work on it.

Here's the Kickstarter link.

Edit: It looks like Akihiko Yoshida, the artist for the above named games and others, has also joined the team. He's also the lead artist for ARR.
I really wanted to back this but the rewards aren't quite as rewarding as the Project Phoenix KS or the Mighty No. 9 ones which sorta bums me out. I'm a big sucker for things like artbooks and music soundtracks.
As far as I know, Yasumi Matsuno isn't actually a member of the team; he built the scenario and Playdek is in charge of actually making the game.
I say give it a go. At worst this game could become an underrated classic, methinks.
Ah, I have had this on my watch list for at least a month now. I just dropped $50 for The Repopulations kickstarter this month and then Star Citizen...so many great games in development from indie developers. At least with two weeks left, I am sure I can find $20 to dig up since I will be buying this game anyway.
I consider Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics to be three of my favourite and most inspirational games that I've ever had the pleasure of playing through. Even to this day I make a point of trying to complete them once a year!
If this new game is even half as good as those three then I'll be a very happy man.

I'll probably throw the money that I had thought to throw into the MegaMan board game into this. I usually back ~$100+ on these things but the lack of physicals saddens me just a tiny bit. Throwing in $80 tonight.

On another note: The Playdek / Matsuno thing must have really hurt the kickstarter. They've been blitzing information from him the last few updates. At first I was hesitant because he's not actually directing but he is, it seems, very involved.
