Hydaelyn Role-Players

For those of you who've seen "Men in Tights", please refrain from lobbing your ears at me. It's disgusting and unsanitary, I won't appreciate it despite the comedic reference.

Black Hat here and boy, do I have a concept for some great RP. In order to do this, I want open communication. Come in and say what you want to say, better or worse. Criticism or negativity. I don't care, all feedback is welcome.

Here's how it breaks down.

Galen Aubrey (yours truly) will be hiring adventurers for jobs IN CHARACTER. That's nothing spectacular, is it? These jobs could be craftwerks, In character dungeon runs, even In character Beast Tribe Dailies and In Character Fate-Grinds. All pretty standard stuff, right?

Oh, did I forget to mention.....he'll be paying for a job well done.....with -actual- Gil?

That's right, it's so nice I'll say it twice. These RP adventuring jobs will have -real gil rewards- for successful completion.

Now, there won't be a hundred billion jobs to do a day, but I will try to accomodate people on a first come, first serve basis. As with any good job system, those who put in time and effort with great service records get the best jobs. Want to be the best? Have to be better than the other guy. 

Make a rivalry, build your own RP adventuring party across FCs, network your characters and do it all seamlessly through some very simple, lucrative jobs for adventurers. 

Cause, I mean, everybody likes some extra coin.

Other possible avenues will include a thread here on the RPC for "want ads." to spice up the jobs available. So folks who need a crafter or a party for a primal-squishing can shout out and let me know, so I can offer the reward and job.

Let's bring PvE and RP together, while making legit bank.

I really like the sound of this, especially considering that the Echo Knights are a mercenary free company! What are your ideas for tracking of jobs done "successfully" or "well done" ?

Hey! I apologize for how long this took, I had written a reply the other day and possibly forgot to hit "post'.

At any rate, here's the deal. This is to reward/promote open world RP so I'm not planning on following folks around "watching" them do things to make sure. It's mostly an honor system. However, I will be watching other things like how long everyone participates and what the characters talk about IC.

Does that mean people can pull one over on me? Sure. No biggie.

Also! I've purchased a little property in Mist Ward 4 (Since Ward 1 is full >.<) and I'm nearly finished building a teahouse and medical clinic to do a few events in around the Open World stuff and to use as a fun hub for everyone. I know folks have spots all over the place now, but I wanted to do this and I did. Yay me.

Found this post a while back and was interested, but wasn't too thrilled with the game at the time so didn't comment.
Realizing I should be playing a bit more seeing as I still have roughly 1.5 months of play time left I figured I'd come back and post.

Since beta I've been hoping for someone to do an 'Adventurer's Guild' thing. I had originally planned on making something similar, but with the lack of interest at launch while everyone was lvling, and then the lack of housing, later replaced with the disgustingly high price of housing, I pretty much gave up.

Set up and furnished a small house in Gridania about a month ago as a tavern/inn with decor allowing for a tiny branch of the Adventurer's Guild if the idea ever came up again.

As you have done just that, I'm quite excited. I've noticed a whole slew of FCs setting up in Ul'dah wanting to be close together, and am glad to see someone getting away and spreading the RP around to the other City-States. I'd be happy to get involved with your FC on an alt and/or help out with your great idea in another way.

I just joined up yesterday, but I did play in the beta, 
and I'm hoping to stumble across plenty of roleplay opportunities
on Gilgamesh, so I love this idea.

What times do you usually play, DD? I will try to get you an invite to the OWLS (Open World Link Shell) as soon as possible and hopefully you can network from there.

I'm not sure if this has already been done, but I'm really wondering if we should set up a Gilgamesh house directory of what houses are available for open RP. I've always preferred the idea of a spread-out handful of houses/mansions/etc. vs. everything being centered around one neighborhood...perhaps setting someone thing up on the Wiki? A pinned thread here on the forum?

We did that once already FOR RP Neighborhoods, but it didn't really take. I'm less concerned with the housing and more concerned with getting the RP out there in the world. I know there's a large community that -doesn't- RP and a fairly big community of RP griefers and trolls too, but we shouldn't let that dissuade us from doing it.

That's very true. Yesterday I was openly roleplaying in Gridania, and had two other roleplayers join in, which gave me a lot of hope for the community, but I also had someone /tell me that they were surprised to see anyone openly roleplaying on the Gilgamesh server. 

So there seems to be a mix, but I'd like to think there are a lot of roleplayers on Gilgamesh. That being said, I'll usually be on in the afternoons, EST, and most likely late at night. I won't be on until later tonight, since I'm finishing up finals at uni today. 
And as an aside, I'd like to see the spread out neighborhoods, but I haven't been around, so I don't know what's been done yet.

Turns out I stumbled into the very same forum as you Doe. Anyway, I'm happy to finally be able to play again and just like Doe said, we were able to find some RP decent RP though she did mention someone being surprised. It wasn't quite like my battle underwear scene from the beta but it was fun.

Well, the idea of taking player jobs for RP reminds me of some RP I did on TERA ONLINE, so I'm excited to get to the point to be able to do things like this.

I will add you to the list, LT! Thanks for the input! I want to see as much open world RP as I can get going.  And there are others, like me, who're working on their own Open World events and opportunities as well! 

I'll try to get you both invitations to the OWLS as soon as possible. Keep on RPing!

I love open world RP, and most of our group does it every chance we get. But at the same time, I think it'd be great to see a directory of open RP houses too. Sometimes it's natural for an RP to move to a place like a tavern, and I'd love to be able to give other FC's houses some traffic too (such as the Den out in Gridania).

Glad to see this thread getting lots of love now! I'll find your post Black Hat and post our house. We're always open for rp. Our FC has mixed interests, but if you come up to one of and initialize rp, chances are we'll respond.
