I am trying to make a character who is sleeping in a void embryo inside the Lost City of Amdapor, but when couple of characters visit the place - the embryo tends to break, and the girl happens to be in a dormant sleeping state who does not remember anything that has happened to her, but her only existence and her abilities show that she is clearly a white mage. Would this plot be even valid and legit enough that I can actually create a white mage?

I am rather curious and no, this is not a troll question because I am highly convinced that I want to make a white mage character in a sense that it supports it.
I think that anyone who would feel that you are breaking the lore by RPing a White Mage would just find this even more lore-shattering.

Personally, I feel that you would be better to simply going with the idea that White Mages are undergoing a quiet revival like other job-classes and just be very subtle about being a white mage. Void embryos and being locked in a dormant sleeping state for years and years (how many years has Amdapor been gone again? A century? Maybe more?) - is a lot harder to swallow than the elementals very cautiously loosening their restrictions on non-padjal white mages.
Wouldn't someone literally be telling her to not reveal that she knows white magic due to the history changes? To this character, she'd know nothing but her own abilities and her names, but she doesn't remember what exactly happened.

Sleeping in a dormant state for centuries can happen with conservation by magic at any terms. Which is why I kind of asked if it's even possible to really have a white mage character in a story as long as you make it original.
As a confirmed Lore-bender, and enemy to all lore-nazis, I still steer clear of WHM and DRG rp. Those two are just to touchy. But that said I love time travel rp (if anyone remembers adult Lenna). So if you do this, I will not be mad, in fact I think I would want in on this.

Technically, you can make anything work so long as you don't go over the top and have phenomenal cosmic powers. I have to agree though, a character sleeping in the Lost City, while original, would in many ways come off like a mary sue for several reasons:

1) Being that she's a white mage, amnesia or not, she is going to have a pivotal role in the world's existence since the white mage's are all but gone.

2) When you have to ask: 'how did she seal herself', 'why did she seal herself', 'why did she suffer amnesia', ect. and you are the creator of the story asking for confirmation, you're basically tossing a rock into the dark hoping it won't hit something. Again, it just sounds like she's way too important.

I could go on and on, but I advise that if you polish the story and play it carefully you might make this work. Telling people on the forums or OOCly in the game will kind of destroy the magic and mystery of the character. It never hurts to just make the character, role play it out at an early level and see what others think of it based on interactions.

If there are a lot of negative comments, chances are it kind of won't be accepted. If you can get away with it, then you clearly played it carefully and ought to continue.

In the end, it's up to you and how to tell the story. I personally think it's way too over the top but that doesn't mean you can't make it work. Surprise us all. Thumbsup
If I have my lore right, her memories really wouldn't matter. The moment she started practicing succor she'd anger the elementals and Kan-e-Senna and the padjals would notice.

It's difficult to create a white mage character in the sense that....it's almost impossible to do so without involving NPC's that are on the same level of the Sultana then you have to create a reason for them to allow your character to use this and no one else's and that would be the origin and catalyst of a lot of butthurt.

This is correct.  Supposedly the Elementals are keeping active tabs on who is using Succor and if it's not got a Padjal tag, they have an issue with it.

Except for that one guy.  ¯\(°_o)/¯

But seriously, please play whatever the hell you want.
Gods, as if I didn't just kill my brain like two seconds ago in the last post... I HAVE AN IDEA OF HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK!

90% lore canon as well!

So Amdapor existed somewhere between 1500 and 3000 years ago during the time of the 5th Astral Era. It was a city blessed by the Elementals with the gift of Succor, aka White Magic. During the end of the 5th Astral Era, a great war between Black Mages, White Mages, and Scholars called the War of the Magi broke out. Gone absolutely crazy with power, the Black Mages repeated the mistake of ancient Allagan Emporer Xande and opened SEVERAL voidgates in order to unleash the Seven Hells on their enemies. Meanwhile, White Mages and Scholars attempted to seal these Voidgates and destroy the Voidsent Black Mages had spawned in this world. (At great person costs, I'll add.)

Now, let's combine this with the story of Wiyu, an Allagan Summoner from the Third Astral Era who did battle with the Dark Divinity roughly 5000 years ago. Ultimately unable to defeat Odin, Wiyu sacrificed herself in order to seal Odin away. It wasn't until the 7th Umbral Era 5000 years later that her seal was finally broken and Odin re-released upon the realm.

So what I'm thinking is this... we know from E-Sumi-Yan that 1600 years ago, in one of the final great battles between Amdapor and the Black Mages, the Black Mages open several Voidgates and summon the Void King, Diabolos to destroy Amdapor. What if during that battle, your Amdaporian White Mage character pulled a Wiyu and sacrificed herself to seal one of those nondescript Voidgates and she was sealed away with it? (Not necessarily Diabolos's, but a general Voidgate.) So now, 1600 years later, those seals guarding Amdapor are beginning to fail. What if hers fails now too, and she is released from her own seal. Then a party of adventurers who are purging the city of Amdapor during a "dungeon run" find her body, aethersick and disoriented. There's your in for White Mage.

Thoughts?
^ That's why I like "Lore-Nazi's"

You can make MOST THINGS FIT if you try.
That actually sounds pretty cool!

I'll try  to work it out and modify it based on your idea. I think it will definitely fit with the lore now Big Grin

But yeah of course, I'll keep the whole WHM on low profile in public especially Gridania. *cough*
First thing I want to get out of the way is: RP whatever is fun for you. You pay money for this game, you might as well have fun RPing in it. Not everyone may agree with it, but I'm sure you'll find people who are fine with it and will RP with you.

Now that I got that out of the way, my only question is - if you're just trying to find a way to have a white-mage character, why run with the idea of her being in stasis within Amdapor? We know next to nothing about Amdapor, SE hasn't provided us a whole lot of information about the civilisation. You basically have almost no backstory to fall back on for your character other than that she's an amnesiac with White Magic that was found in the Lost City of Amdapor.

She would have no history to really help enrich her story and if you gave her any memories at all that she eventually remembered, they would have to be insanely vague in order to avoid completely making up what Amdapor's culture, society, etc were like (only to run the risk of SE releasing lore in the future that completely contradicts it.)

If you go with the idea that perhaps she was found in the Shroud with no prior memory of anything other than that she was in some kind of stasis bubble with the mysterious ability to wield White Magic - you could open up your character to having any manner of history you like, without any restrictions that being from Amdapor would impose.
Oh one thing I just realized! Continuity check!

Hyur hadn't yet migrated to Eorzea during the time of Amdapor, so your character would have to be either Elezen or Keeper Miqo'te! (I guess technically speaking they could be Lalafell or Roegadyn as well, but we have lore evidence of Elezen and Keepers inhabiting the Shroud during the 5th Astral Era.)

It's pretty freaking awesome actually.

CURSES. T_T

I have to choose Elezen!? ... ((/racist perfectly!)) j/k.

I wanted to do Hyur but I guess I'll always ICly Fantasia it. ;D ...if I could  really.

This is other option I could go too. I'll see what I like and come up with it this week by posting here. Both you and Sounsyy made it  to a point here and I really appreciate  it!
