I don't know if anyone saw this but here we go:

Interview
So, what we can take from this:
  • No In Game cost for weddings, beyond the material cost of crafting the rings
  • No GM involved in wedding, simply down to booking a 2 hour window
  • from the above, looks like there will only be a maximum of 12 weddings a day unless there can be multiple instances of weddings at the same time.
  • Most fighting gear that Ninja should use already has Dex attached to it, but new gear is coming along with 2.4
  • Personal Room gardening may come with 3.0
  • Square Enix rules is the reason why so much merch is only available in Japan, but he is working to get around this somehow.
No GM presence? Thank goooooood. Requiring a live GM is what torpedoed XI marriages, to my knowledge.

Also, can't wait for the rings to require 4 star mats! OH SE, YOU LOVABLE BASTARD

You forgot it'll require the new crafting gear that requires you to meld Grade 5 materia onto its 5 forbidden slots, each with a .1% chance of success.

Yeah, but if it is correct that its only 12 per day, that will tank it quite quickly I feel.

No it won't -- all these thirsty roleplayers will not -allow- it to tank.

I can just see people spending an entire day running from ceremony to ceremony.

Eventually it's going to peter out, but I can see people having to wait weeks for their wedding -- AND DOING SO WITH GUSTO. The system won't fail, it'll just be MEGA CROWDED.

And engaged nerds people will whine and whine about their bond ceremony date being a moooonth from now while still staring at the date every day. It'll all work out in the end.

To elaborate: In XI's later years, it became impossible to get married because you had to 1) submit an application online and get selected and 2) get a GM to officiate.

In eight years, there's still going to be 12 spots daily / 84 spots weekly. If there's been 12 weddings in Vana'diel since 2008 I'd be impressed. 168 people will be married every week. I suspect a month or three down the line you'll be able to do sunset on Friday without much hubbub.

Someone screenshot this so we can laugh at how naive I am come 2.5.

Yoshi said it'll be a list that resets weekly. So expect Tuesday maint to have a bunch of couples camping out the NPC.

SE should make it roam, just to further incite riots.
According to the live letter, from what I remember, he said people will be using the mogstation.

So people will be camping the mogstation with their little list of days/times.

Reminds me of registering for class. @_@

Hm. I was reading this and got a different impression.

Quote:GE: You spoke briefly about the reservation system for the Eternal Bond ceremony. Will there be a faster system for people who don’t want a full ceremony? How will the system work?

Y: There will not be a faster system to avoid the reservation system, but the ceremony will not require GM support like what was needed in Final Fantasy XI. There will be a 2 hour window for each ceremony, which can be reserved by both players a week in advance. When the time comes, the people who received an invite will be taken to a waiting area, and the bride and groom will be taken to separate waiting areas where they can choose their costume, coloring and hairstyle. Then when both players accept then the ceremony starts. It is built to take promptly 2 hours. Once you have reserved the slot it is yours. The ceremonies are scheduled one week in advance, and they are planning on doing a weekly reset. It is reserved by talking to an NPC when the slots are opened up.

I could be wrong but that was my impression from when I was at the panel.
I believe to register the actual connction between the two characters is done out of game, but to reserve a time for the ceremony is done in game.

Possibly. Melding materia has been known to spontaneously combust.
