What is this LS?
Roll Eorzea is a linkshell dedicated to discussing the use of roll systems in MMO RP. While we welcome discussion of any roll system, our current focus is on the in-house roll-system of Fate-14 Players can receive help with making character sheets in this system, making and improving roll systems of their own, and organizing storylines for players interested in roll-based RP.  The linkshell is entirely OOC, and there is no requirement to be in a specific free company to join. The only requirement is that you have an interest in the use of tabletop roll systems within your FF14 roleplay.

How do I join?
Contact Nihka Mioni, either here or in-game, for an invite into the LS.

Can I talk about my own roll system instead of the in-house system?
Sure! The LS is managed by someone who’s always interested in hearing about new systems. Players would be happy to help critique and playtest new ideas, and we can also advertise your roll system's rules on the linkshell page here.

OOC Rules:
  1. Please avoid debating the relative merits of emote-based fighting, roll-based fighting, and fighting through in-game mechanics such as PvP. It’s a useful argument, but it’s one that can be had on any number of forums dedicated to discussing online RP. Assume that everybody in the LS is on the same page regarding the utility of roll systems - that is to say, that roll systems can be used to effect in online RP.
  2. Be respectful of other players’ opinions regarding how to design roll systems and run events. Not everybody is going to want to use the same system the same way.
  3. Hostility, harassment, and hate-speech will result in your removal from the LS. Mind the Hs.
I applaud this LS. The system is very fun, and unlike basic dice rolls, it is not just about luck. There is skill, strategy and unique customizations that get accounted for in this system. On a rare occasion, there are confusing points where I found myself wondering if I could apply a skill to a certain situation that was not directly related to the skill. For example, can the stitching skills of leather-worker be applied to stitching a living person's wound? That is where a DM/GM who knows the system must be used.

While I think the system takes some practice, I found it to be not as complicated as it seemed at first. I did a short series of events with some people in this LS, and it was great fun. As a member of the LS, I also often see Verad talk about improvements he is constantly making to the system.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents on it.

I'm interested in this plot-thing, but I'm only just figuring out how this system works, and I also have no idea when this plot would be happening.

How / when can I find out more about the timing? I'm already reading up on the roll-system now.
Well I'd like to keep on this LS updated because this seems like an interesting thing to do for a game.
Hi! I tried my hand at making a character sheet and would like some critique; since I've not yet actually played using this system, there's a lot I don't know about keeping things balanced and sensible while also trying to keep the character represented as she should be.

That looks pretty good to me Jana!

Verad might have some comments but I like it.
I'm curious about this, but totally new to the idea. Where do I find more info? Just joining the LS?
We are still here, and we are very much doing well. We have a number of new people involved through Scales in the Sand, and are openly accepting new members to the LS.

The sheer volume of new attendees means that we have space open not only for those who wish to use the system for their own characters, but for whomever wants to use it to GM events of their own. Contact me if you are interested in this position.

Virara and Oliwat, please send me a tell the next time I'm on so I can invite you into the LS.
