This is never the case. The only instance where you are locked out of content is if you haven't purchased an expansion. Expansion isn't until 3.0, so you're fine.

I love that they're rolling out content so quickly, as opposed t just fixing bugs and leaving everything to the expansion.

Found a Famitsu article on my Twitter feed that also pins the 2.5 drop for January 20th.

Thinking about the dice roll command, it is my fondest, hopefullest wish that it doesn't just look like an emote. It would be completely impossible to use that in the game with any seriousness if someone could just write /em rolls a 98! and have it look identical.
