Saix was born and raised in Thanalan as a Miqo'te. He grew up as an only child with his kind loving parents in Forgotten Springs. Having no siblings and living in the barren Sagolii desert, Saix grew bored and dreamt of leaving his home to be an adventurer. His father would tell him glorious tales of Dragoon's that would slay monstrous dragons and fend off great wyrms whose very breath scorched the earth. His favorite story was of the two wolves, who lived within a soldier's soul, one was black and the other white. Every day the two wolves would battle, every day leading up to one grand moment of fate where one wolf would be named champion. 'Twas up to the hero to decide which wolf he favored to win, for whichever wolf he fed would eventually grow stronger than it's opponent.
As Saix grew into young adulthood, he traveled to Ul'Dah to study thaumaturge. Every day his nose would be buried in some tome on Aether flow, or the void, but his favorite books where those on Ascians. For as he learned of these immortal beings which harbored great destructive power, he too acquired a deep lust for dark power. As he came closer to his goal he preformed a ritual that unleashed a powerful denizen of the void that sought to possess his soul. As his soul was being consumed by the spirit's malice and hate, powerful white mages saved him from his fate. But he was forever changed...
The spirit attached itself to his soul, leaving the comfort of the void to forever torture it's new host. Saix's fur had turned to scale, and he grew horns from the side of his head. The being branded Saix with a black mark upon his forehead, a sign of shame and dishonor.
Saix refused to tell anyone of the lingering demon, and he was much to ashamed to return to his parents. Instead he would look for a way to cleanse himself of his shame and cast out the spreading corruption that crept throughout his soul.
His journey eventually led him to Ishgard, where he met an unlikely friend. Saix was frail and drained of energy as he fell into the brume, his last breathes upon him. He would have lost his internal struggle had it not been for Sidurgu, who drained the black Aether from his soul as if he was inhaling smoke from a fire. Sidurgu provided succor when he was weak and taught him how to tame the darkness within. Along with the training he provided with a greatsword, Sidurgu taught Saix how to drain another being of their sorrow and hate and turn it into usable energy.
Once Saix was back to good health he carried on his journey, owing his life to a newfound friend. Now he seeks to find a way to slay the demon who still gnaws at his very life. The wolves within him are approaching the pinnacle of battle.
