This is mostly how I feel.  I was slightly disappointed with the facial features as it doesn't seem possible for a Miqo'te not to be cute.  But I look at my cats faces at home, and cats on the internet, and cats all around, they are almost always cute.  So I just accepted that all Miqo'te tend to be cute with only minor differences between their structure.

But I am always, always, always, gonna cheerlead for more options, customizations, and alternative armor and gear.

Implementing that in 2.0 would have been just one more challenge on top of the rest of the overhaul - Legacy options needed to be retained or rebuilt, remember. I imagine SE was trying very hard to reuse what assets they could.
Also remember that a lot of the 2.1 content was content they didnt have time to implement before 2.0 launched. Crystal tower for instance.
