I am in hopes that Jenova does pick up, we lost many to Balmung over the years but surprisingly been still strong, though with everyone waiting for Stormblood most rp has slowed in prep. Even so as evidence that a small rp community can thrive, I hope to see more grow all over, but of coarse I root for my own server xD.

Ahaha, in the same boat. It seems that there are small RP communities on several servers, ones mentioned in this thread alone including Mateus, Siren, Faerie, and Jenova. I'm a bit torn on which to check out first, though.

SE doesn't let people take their plots with them, a refund on their house isn't much when to buy the house on Balmung from a flipper in the first place is insane. And there's no keeping your pvp rank when you move. The gil is a good start, but people will still see a loss with moving and therefore.. won't do it.

Most people didn't even want to leave their grand companes because of how that affected pvp. A move? lmfaoooooo

RE: High Pop Anti-Transfers - Zhavi - 05-17-2017

There should be a pitch thread for the various other server communities.

Is it wrong I kinda wanna see a battle royale between them? *cue mortal kombat music*

RE: High Pop Anti-Transfers - Flynn Rosenberg - 05-17-2017

If people want to move, let them. No one is forcing you. It's just nice to have options, especially now when people can't join our server. "Hey, would be nice if we had an official RP tag, or a sister to Balmung." "No we're not moving" that's fine, no one is telling you to. After the shit I've heard today, I'll gladly move if we ever got an official RP server, even if it's an EU one. I don't think SE would even tag Balmung or any of the populated servers, most likely it'd be a new one.

RE: High Pop Anti-Transfers - Enla - 05-17-2017

Honestly I really want SE to -finally designate- official RP servers to help people congregate after this whole mess. I have all eight of my slots on Balmung and have for a year, but giving people a clear place to go after being shafted with no warning would have helped this matter I feel.

Ahaha, not sure about a battle royale, but having some info on the other communities would be really helpful!

There are threads here, there, and everywhere related to each of the communities, it's just not consolidated. You gotta dig for it, which can be frustrating when you're new, I know. Hell, even I don't want to dig for it right now, and I have a fuzzy idea where all the threads are (it's been awhile since I've looked).

Oh, of course there would already be threads - that slipped my mind for a moment. I'll go take a look now. Thank you!

Yes, I want things to run smoothly for SB, but I also know a closed server will cause new players to go elsewhere, and over time as RPers leave naturally, no one will come to replace them. This isn't about the cares of a single person, it is about helping the community continue as it has for 5 years, something that many of us have put forth a lot of effort and work to grow into what it is now.

When you say that Balmung being closed will cause new players to go elsewhere, are you saying new players will go to other games or servers?

I think we oughta slow down with all the doomsaying. Balmung temporarily closing its doors due to high congestion near expansion launch won't be the end of RP as we know it. We've not yet seen how this will affect the roleplay community. Who knows? Maybe this could potentially lead to a boon for RP on other servers.

Care to elaborate? I don't recall once saying this is a good thing, and I'm actively on Mateus helping them grow their community right now. There have been several people in this thread alone saying they're new and lost on what to do. Try not to be so dismissive.

EDIT: Also, to give an example of what Momo was talking about. I've been talking to a group of people from WoW planning to come over to XIV. They'd literally been ready to transfer within days only to find out they no longer can. These people are heavy RPers that wanted a heavy RP community, and now several of them are no longer playing at all. So yes, this does actively deter new players.

I never said you were saying it's a good thing, nor have I dismissed anyone new or lost. I was rolling my eyes at the tone of your post.

If you read my previous post (or anyone else's), and got a 'Fuck you I got mine' impression, it would serve you better to actually quote the people you've got the impression from and constructively respond to their points, and not just make shady comments about how they're coming across to you. It was just an unnecessary thing to say.

It's not doomsaying to say that we should figure out a solution now, which is being dismissive of a problem that exists and could potentially get worse over time as we wait to see what happens. A community which has no new growth is a community that is stagnating, and to RP development and survival, that's not a good thing in any circumstance. Asking someone specifically to be called out won't help either, and those people who don't care know who they are and it's probably best they don't keep just adding an uncaring voice to the argument because of how comfortable they are currently. We've had comfort for 5 years, we need something else now.

We need to support each other in finding a solution, we cannot trust in them reopening transfers to the server as that could take a year or more. It's already been a possibility for a long time, so I don't think that "temporary" has much weight in this current situation as it was already a long time coming.

RE: High Pop Anti-Transfers - IvikBlack - 05-17-2017

In lieu of an officially designated RP server (please square, just put RP after Zalvera and be done with it)...

If they're going to offer free transfers off of Balmung I think now would be the perfect time to try and find people on Balmung who want to create a second community that's more welcoming to newcomers. It isn't just the need to pay for a transfer, there are also no homes available and there are quite a lot of groups that have been around for years that have no need for new blood.

If there was a fresh push for another unofficially designated RP server, I think it would be very good for the game.

RE: High Pop Anti-Transfers - ArmachiA - 05-17-2017

I really do like the idea of Mateus, Siren, and Faerie all merging to just one consolidated server (whoever has the biggest pop for fairness) because that would really give that one server a real shot at being a stable server. I understand that the logistics make that harder however.
