I thought that was a non blood drinking youkai, akaname, who licked filth from bathrooms and people.
Where do you people even find this stuff??
lmao

Culture is weird, man. "Keep your space and yourself clean, otherwise shitdemons will [redacted] your [redacted] until you're completely out of [redacted]. You won't [expletive] right for a week afterwards."

So, why would a bat need to turn into another bat?

Have you seen those images of perfectly clear flood water in Japan?

Shit's just cleaner there...

Wait?  Is the idea now to play a Flying Cephlapod?

(Go Go Miskatonic U!  Go Go Fighting Cephlapods!)

That's a different youkai. The vampire prefers to run about at night and shovel whatever nasty things it finds into its mouth. This often includes bugs and fecal matter, but will attack and drink the blood of unwary travelers. Also, they are almost always women.

The idea has always been to play a flying cephalopod.

Vampire bats are pretty damn cool. Their saliva is like topical Novocain and a blood thinner. They just poke a little hole and lick lick lick lick and then fly away into the clouds.

RE: Plausibility of Vampire RP - McBeefâ„¢ - 09-22-2015

Basically where we're at is that vampire legends clearly exist in the folklore, and they seem to be somewhat similar to european anime vampires.
Whether or not they actually exist is an open question, but the /legend/ of them does to some respect.

If you play some manner of character that sucks blood or drinks blood or needs blood to survive, calling yourself a 'vampire' isn't much of a stretch. Other characters would probably also call you a vampire, even if you'e not technically one.

RE: Plausibility of Vampire RP - McBeefâ„¢ - 09-22-2015

Hell, they'll call a plant a vampire.

It's pretty telling that they compared the blood-drinking tree monster to a myth and not the other way around.

RE: Plausibility of Vampire RP - Val - 09-22-2015

I don't really think we should take comical flavor text clearly meant to be a joke as a serious entry to lore, though. SE has a big history with throwing things in their games just to justify an action/event/whatever that doesn't need to be. The cephalopod seems to be more a joke name than anything else, an allusion to the real world myth rather than anything in game.

That's my take from it, at least Smile

And that's what Larry Craig was doing; looking for vampires.  And he can't even tell us, because it's a government secret.

RE: Plausibility of Vampire RP - DoomsdayClock - 09-22-2015

Wouldn't it be entirely possible to use some form of void taint or touch to cause a similar condition and still work it into the lore?

In ffxiv land 'vampire' just seems to mean creepy thing that drinks blood.

We don't know any more than that.

So as long as your char is

A: Creepy

B: Drinks Blood

you're a vampire _____ . congrats, regardless if you got that way from a voidsent, traditional vampire, or radioactive bat.

Edit: ^^^ yep doomsday that's what I'm saying.
