As I never, ever played a Mithra or Taru in FFXI, I will definitely be playing either a Miqo'te Keeper of the Moon or (Female) Lalafell Dunesfolk.
And to add to the chorus of "I want more lore before deciding a starting city..."

I will most likely play a female Elezen Duskwight who begins in Limsa Lominsa.
I also plan to start a Miqo'te, maybe in Gridania.

Depending on what lore comes out, I'll be choosing between female:
Miqo'te Keeper
Hyur highlander (if a female is even possible, and if they have decent magical bonuses, which I doubt, so this one is more of a fancy that won't happen. ;_; )

I really like the idea of Lominsa, but if I think another city looks cooler when they finally give the lore then I'll change directions.

I'm thinking female Hyur, a midlander. I have no idea for city though. I'm waiting for more information, really.
I'll definitely be playing some male characters too. Probably not for my first/main though.

Miqo'te Keeper of the Sun for sure, not sure which starting city (Ul'Dah or Gridania.. not big on the whole pirates theme in Limsa Lominsa).

I had thought from early forum posts (maybe mostly on the previous forums) that Roegadyn were going to be much more popular than the galka were in FFXI. I'm honestly surprised there isn't a better representation in the voting on this demographics page. But it may be from people who haven't joined up on the new forum yet.
