Pppft. Mine will be T'iz Apun.

RE: Miqo'te naming - Gegenji - 03-12-2015

I'm still partial to the Chocobo-chasing Whyl'li Miqo'te.

M'ufasa Nunh.

Sorry I Hahs'to Puhn.

Okay, I'll S'tahp. I won't Jakkya thread.

Anyways, every single Miqo'te NPC I have seen has had a traditional name. The only partial exceptions are the two Brass Blade Miqo'te Seekers at Highbridge. Even then, their forenames still fit the conventions.

However, there are plenty of Miqo'te shown in the game who are clearly more fit into the culture of the city they live in. I don't see why a Miqo'te character can't decide to change their name, or get one that doesn't fit conventions for one reason or another. Plenty of players do it.

Plus there's the whole idea of the "name" you give at the start being a potential title or nickname. So, while their proper name may be G'eroldt Tia or something, they may be known to their friends and allies as Half Ear due to one of his ears having been bit off by a Malboro.

RE: Miqo'te naming - Aduu Avagnar - 03-13-2015

If Nako ever dies ICly, or I retire him, I'm totally changing his name to Meow McKitten

RE: Miqo'te naming - Alothia - 03-13-2015

I have a friend with the alt Chuck Meowis.

Bob'a Fett. Totally legit, can't even tell me no.

RE: Miqo'te naming - Tiergan - 03-13-2015

Lurial was my main in 1.0 and like others have said, the naming conventions weren't really explained back then. By the time 2.0 rolled around, I was too attached to the name to let it go.

In real life, my parents are immigrants who gave my siblings both Korean and American names. I just decided Tier and Luri's parents did something similar upon settling and making a family in Ala Mhigo.

G'ettin Nunh, the loneliest Seeker.

RE: Miqo'te naming - Ilwe'ran - 03-13-2015

I keep saying that the most important when you chose a name is to like it. I crooked a bit the naming convention to have Ilwe'ran has a name instead of Ilwe'ra, nobody ever said a thing (and I bet nobody will ever say a thing).
There are thousands reasons why a character would not follow the convention (adoption, foreigner, memory problems, not wanting to give their true name, etc.) don't let the lore bother you too much and pick one you like Smile .

True, but that would mean his mother's name is "Bob"...

RE: Miqo'te naming - Heart Quintessence - 03-14-2015

I think as long as someone can explain it its ok.

I mean its like a French person being named ' Sunshine'.. mom or dad visited america in the 70s and became hippies?

RE: Miqo'te naming - X'vatt - 03-14-2015

While my character's name is X'vatt Tia, he normally just goes by Vatt anyways. It's gotten to the point in which I was debating changing his name to match.
