Meh, it looks a bit tacky and the zippers are just a smidge out of place for Eorzean attire, IMO, but I don't see anything hugely jarring about it.

Remember when the event first came around and everybody had Lightning or Snow hair? Wonder if we'll see that again when they're put on the cash shop. I kinda miss the absurdity of walking into a room and seeing the same hairstyle on every female. Happened to me a few times back then. xD

RE: Regards to FFXIII Event - Kellach Woods - 12-26-2015

I'm more ticked about Cloud's Advent Children outfit being released with the fucking scabbards.

NO ONE CAN EQUIP 6 SWORDS AT THE SAME TIME IN GAME, SQUARE.

RE: Regards to FFXIII Event - Caspar - 12-26-2015

It's fashionable wear from ancient Allag. The advanced textiles and strange metal fastening teeth are surely the relics of lost technology.

It is advanced on an altogether different level than the steam power and mesh armor from Rowena's in Idyllshire, the high tech carbonweave and aetheric machinery of Ironworks gear, or the gadgets and valves of the sky pirates.

The heavy crafting / gathering boots (I forgot the exact item name but they're pretty low-level) are work boots that look almost identical to these and the Cloud Strife boots.

Also, the 60 MNK trenchcoat thing is pretty much pulled from a 2015 catalog.

I like that trenchcoats and combat boots ruin people's immurshunz but bunny ears and succubus horns don't. Tongue

I honestly think we need more banana hammock armor than trench coats.

This man speaks my language.

I have been using this coat as part of Ben's rp look since the original event. This is the first time I have ever heard it referred to as lorebreaking Dazed

I'm not gonna jump the bandwagon directly, and just say that no one complained when a FFXI character suddenly broke into FFXIV Universe and stayed there. Actually, that makes me curious if FFXIV is a distant "future" of FFXI, and your character is the same as the FXI char.

Digressing, I dislike the Snow Coat and specially the lightning hair, but there is more ridiculous stuff in here, really.

RE: Regards to FFXIII Event - Sig - 12-28-2015

Upon review of the record and posts herein, I find that a common trench coat and boots are not only consistent with plausible FFXIV lore, but should be encouraged as a natural extension of basic tailoring patterns one could reasonably expect to exist in a fantasy setting where attire of steam-punk, military, and fantasy origins are common place.

I'm tempted to pick up the coat and boots as a casual Sigurd alternative outfit.  It would look very dapper.

First it's the trenchcoats ... next it will be fedora's and katanas.  Cactuar

Seriously though, there is some pretty high variation gear styles in this magifantipunk world we play in.  Not an immersion breaker by any stretch in my book..

And we already have several styles of long coats anyway ...

Buckles, zippers, snaps, magnets, bubble gum ... might be splitting hairs a little much.

RE: Regards to FFXIII Event - Kellach Woods - 12-28-2015

but really we all know the most lorebreaking thing is the Thug's Mask.

RE: Regards to FFXIII Event - kitakaze - 12-31-2015

For good or ill, I'd honestly say that they can add whatever event based cosmetic items they want and it's no big deal. Does it get irksome and immersion breaking to see someone run by in a bizarrely out of place outfit? Yes, sometimes. Really, though, any time you go out to PVE, you're like as not to encounter people wearing amalgamations of varying sets anyway. Adding things just for fun doesn't make much more of a difference by comparison. Just my two Gil.
