Re: All the good greetings are taken already - Duplicitous Rex - 01-21-2013 Well, EQ is one of the grandaddies of the MMO genre, which didn't really take off until WoW. Also EQ was a terribly difficult game with very few of the features most players today take for granted, such as maps and being able to see in the dark. But back then I didn't know any better and happily fetched my body back from the depths of hell naked. FFXI orignally appealed to me because it was similar to EQ in it's combat and levelling, but more refined and with infinitely better graphics. Also chocobos. Re: All the good greetings are taken already - TheLastCandle - 01-21-2013 When EQ came out, I was still heavily involved in a subscription-based MUD. I don't think my computer at the time could even run it. I was still using Win95 on the ol' family PC. I guess my first "real" MMO was FFXI, followed by WoW a couple of years later unless you count the original SSI Neverwinter Nights. Really fond memories of FFXI. It's not even close to what it was when I played, around the time Chains of Promathia came out. |
