I'm thinking my DRG and MNK are going to get a little more playtime at launch Smile

RE: Job Action thoughts? - TheLastCandle - 05-31-2013

I'm a big fan of the Black Mage casting animations, myself. That was the standout for me.

RE: Job Action thoughts? - Renna - 05-31-2013

Black Mage did look pretty amazing as well Smile

Yeeeah! I was re-watching it today and I just noticed how much BLM moves around when casting compared to the WHM. Pretty cool! That being said, I'm pretty happy with the glow of the staff when the WHM casts, but the animations are nothing special.

Now if only we could get a little sneak peak of Scholar and Summoner animations...

The animations they added to WHM were a huge deal for me! Considering how we used to basically just stand there and move one arm it's awesome to see them whipping the staff around with the wind blowing the robes and stuff.~ Smile

I suppose so! Perhaps it was a little over looked on my end because of how tiny that WHM is. I'll have to watch it again in HD to get the full effect. Tongue

RE: Job Action thoughts? - Aysun - 05-31-2013

She is super tiny. I cannot confirm nor deny that it looks much cooler when it is not so tiny. Wink

If the camera panned a little bit more, you would of seen the giant fan. Cactuar

Hell its gotten me missing being in that gorgeous world even more. Don't even know what I'm going to want to do first when I'm back in lol.Moogle

I wish the camera was closer for the video. Not sure why they decided on creepy voyeur cam. The bard almost jumps out of view completely.

RE: Job Action thoughts? - Acistian - 06-01-2013

I honestly can't decide on what I'd like to play now, but I did feel as though the monk was a tad slow in comparison to the paladin, buy yay game physics and weight XP.

I may just have to level them all up, so I can be flexible for what is needed, that is IF they release a Ninja Job in the future, but as far as main RP job, probably monk would make more sense transitioning over to a Ninja.

Out of wonderment, I would like to see if they would throw in Dancer in a patch or expansion, it would be interesting to see its mechanics for XIV...... or even Blue Mage.

RE: Job Action thoughts? - Uther - 06-01-2013

Dragoon is everything I hoped it would be and more.

That's all I have to say about that video.

RE: Job Action thoughts? - Cornet Espoir - 06-02-2013

I'm curious to see how a dancer would work in the game ^_^

In FFXI, Scholar was a hybrid mage that alternated between light and dark magics. Whichever they have active, their skills in that magic are boosted while the other are much lower. They also have job abilities called grimoires, which have different effects on casting, such as halving the MP cost or casting time, boosting power, or turning single target spells into AoE spells. But the grimoires only work on the school they have active at the time. For example if they have Light Arts active, their skills in healing, enhancing, etc are boosted and they can use light grimoires to effect light spells, but their dark magic skills are mediocre and they cannot access dark grimoires. They can only use a set number of grimoires before they have to recharge. They also have many Scholar-only spells: Helixes, which are powerful dark magic DoTs, light magic Storm spells that change the element of the weather around them, and buffs that boost or reduce a party member's aggro gain. There's also two spells they can only use while under their 2hr, Embrava which gives Regen, Regain and Haste, and Kaustra is a brutal dark magic DoT.

The fun of playing SCH was juggling between light and dark magics, strategizing with your grimoires, and keeping the weather around you and your party set to the element you want.

It does make me wonder about how it mixes with Geomancer, now that Seekers of Adoulin is out.. I can imagine that having the Geomancer's weather-reliant spells being guaranteed will be a pretty huge boon.
