Ideas we do have plenty. However I'm not sure if I should spoil it here or wait until they are a little more refined and can be posted up officially by our beloved (hated) leader. I'm going to be very coy here and put a winky smiley at the end of this. Wink

Soren stabs Mason in the eye.

Nupopo Wrote:We've been tossing around ideas, but we're really trying to figure out something that would be fun. It can be difficult coming up with events that don't result in people just coming and standing around for an hour or longer... *memories of Aion come flooding back* Come launch we'll hopefully have some ideas : )

You wouldn't happen to be referring to the Moslan Concerts would you? Cause those could certainly be boring.

*cough* Wouldn't want to mention any names...

There were a lot of other RP events that were kinda lame though. One of the ones I enjoyed running (though I'm not sure how fun it was for the participants) was the Keravi scavanger hunt. We kind forced people together into groups and had quite a bit of fun coming up with clues and such ^^

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Dranmarth - 09-01-2010

Yup, took part in that one a few times, it was fun, and it's ok, in retrospect, that concert idea was a horrible one for Aion, now if it had been done for Lotro, it would have worked pretty well seeing as how lotro has an ingame music system.

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Alvaruz - 09-01-2010

Hey, I did a strip-tease in a Moslan concert once and propose to my girlfriend in there! You just had to make sure you make something out of the ordinary, not just telling sentence and your song...

Maybe the two only songs who kinda had some kind of interactivity with the crowd during the 8 months I went at those events...

But I agree that we need some kind of interactivity with the people...

There was one event, a Karnival at the begining of Aion, where there was a duel championship, that was fun...

You know I can tell you there was nothing I hated more then being forced to go to that damn event... well maybe one more reason in that game... But yes Alva thank you for the striptease... It was funny cause I wasn't paying attention when you were doing it so I had to suddenly re-read like 15 mins of RP in 30secs, so I could reply.

Always fun to have the support of his girlfriend...

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Asyria - 10-05-2010

Quick question regarding the lasted update/announcement in the guild Hall thread...
Why the IC Bulletin Board open to the community at large on your boards when there already is an IC Bulletin Board here? My unnecessary duplicate-sense are tingling. ^^

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - DAISHI - 10-05-2010

Perhaps somebody is on their board and has a question they want to ask ICly? Or perhaps they've got a deep interest in A.E.T.H.E.R. and feels like inquiring? Given AETHER's commitment to RP I can see how it would be beneficial to have such a board on their forums.

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Soren Miren - 10-05-2010

The board was initially conceptualized for in-guild usage only. It was decided that as long as we were creating it, we may as well create an open version. There are of course still a few differences:

1) The A.E.T.H.E.R. bulletin board runs on the concept of free editing, at least for our own members. i.e. people can take down posts, write over them, etc. -- although this is only available to A.E.T.H.E.R. members right now, it is something I am looking into offering the community as a whole.

2) The board is strictly in-character. Aside from OOC clarifications for events, all OOC posts will be removed.

3) DAISHI covered this one before I could get to it hehe, but yes, this isn't meant to replace the RPC's boards in any way, rather to supplement A.E.T.H.E.R.'s heavy RP commitment with additional and realistic means of communication with our linkshell.

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Asyria - 10-05-2010

Didn't think it was meant to replace since it's one additional membership needed, so kinda inconvenient. ^^

The really important question though is... does that mean that A.E.T.H.E.R. Events are not going to be advertised on the RPC Bulletin Board for the most part? You did advertise the matriculation thingy (which I missed as it was unfortunately at a bad time for me), but I'm wondering about future events?

A slightly less important question is what kind of events would a non-member want to advertise on your board? I'm guessing it would be some kind of event that specifically in line with A.E.T.H.E.R. style and goals?

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Soren Miren - 10-05-2010

We'll still be advertising our public events here on the RPC. If there are any that we decide not to advertise, it'll be due to the fact that we want them to trickle down the line naturally by word of mouth, but those will likely be few and far between.

If someone wants to post something on our boards, yes, it'd likely be specifically tailored towards A.E.T.H.E.R.'s interests. Maybe they want to have a researcher document something, or are looking at establishing a relationship specifically with the academy, this is the most direct channel by which to do that. These are just a few examples, I really hate trying to categorize these things too much, but yeah, it really isn't meant to be a "Hey everyone, shove your way through our door every time you want to look at what's going on!" sort of thing. Just, if you want to be 100% confident the Academy sees it (and possibly responds to it), this is the place to do it.

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Asyria - 10-05-2010

Alright, that's what I thought then!
I was just confused because it does look kinda like a "Hey everyone, shove your way through our door every time you want to look at what's going on!" thing, as you put it that it was not.

Re: A.E.T.H.E.R. Discussion - Soren Miren - 10-05-2010

Apologies for the confusion Smile I've gone ahead and re-worded the initial announcement to better reflect the intentions.
