Re: Typing Limit - Kylin - 09-08-2010

The typing limit is atrocious. It drives me batty.

As for the reply (space, ctrl + R), it needs fixed. It seems to only work right now AFTER you send a tell at least once to said person. So for instance, in order to reply to Tadir, I would first have to type out "/t Tadir West blah blah." After I've done that, THEN the reply command starts to work for him. It's really annoying. You should be able to reply to any tell sent to you without typing the name first, just like in FFXI.

Re: Typing Limit - Tadir - 09-08-2010

Very good point, that. I forgot you had to send a tell to them first. That really does need to be fixed, but then again, so does the stupid character limit. Personally, I would like triple the current limit, but I could deal with double.

Everyone, to the feedback forums on FF14's beta site! We have enough people here to bark at them about it there. XD
(with what? 500-600 people?)

Edit:
So I went there and gave them a nice list of feedback in their UI section, along with this!

Quote:= Typing Character Limit

It is to short. It takes 2-3 tells in order to go someone simple instructions. 86-90 character limit is not enough when you also have to type in names for tells, and even when you don't have names and just doing general typing, it is to short.
After all, even twitter and Cell phone text messengers have at least a 120 character limit, sometimes 150, and nearly all MMORPG, expect for the cheaply done ones, have a good 200-400 character limit in their chat boxes.

This should really be looked into and made much larger for text input that way those of us who do have a good grasp on grammar don't have to sound like a 3 year old or some l33t master.
Ever tried reading leet? Its a pain.

I always try to give them a list of things, that way it never seems I am nit-picking on something. XD

Methinks ctr+r is meant for repeat, not reply.
Which is dumb. But it does explain that you need to first send someone a Tell.

This sounds correct to me. Using ctrl+R, I was able to bring up names of people I had sent a tell to already, but those people had not yet sent me a tell yet, so it is not a "reply".
