RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - TheWizard - 01-22-2014 Since we are on the subject of FASHION AND GLORY, I was wondering if anyone knew of any pretty dresses in game? I know that weavers can make some fashionable pieces but aside from that I have no leads. I have a character who wishes to be a beauty reborn. There's the Vanya robes.  But, there is a distinct lack of "pretty formal dresses" in the game. And the only "skirts" appear to be miniskirts.  >.< RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - Whittledown - 01-22-2014 I desperately want a slinky strappy dress for Hornet that has a nice light shimmery effect to the cloth. I am doomed to dissapointment. You can cry on my shoulder while I mourn the fact that the adorable peasant dress that you see many of the female NPCs in is not available, either.  RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - TheWizard - 01-22-2014 That's a real shame since I was hoping there were some formal gowns or some equivalent in the game. A noblewoman just isn't right without a noble gown. The closest you can get are some of the prettier Conjurer robes, or the boob top (aka the coatee), but that doesn't really scream "nobility" as much as "dancing girl."  >.> RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - Naunet - 01-22-2014 (01-22-2014, 07:15 PM)Whittledown Wrote: I desperately want a slinky strappy dress for Hornet that has a nice light shimmery effect to the cloth.  I am doomed to dissapointment. Regardless of whether or not we get a "slinky strappy dress", I highly doubt this game can handle the kinds of textures that would make a shimmery effect.  TERA this is not, alas (I wish.. *sigh*). But yeah... this game is in dire need of clothing variety. @.@ RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - Sounsyy - 01-22-2014 So the original (1.0) WHM robe was actually made of/by an Elemental named Oha-Sok who gave up her physical body so that you could carry Her and Her power of Succor wherever you went. The 2.0 WHM robe belonged to the Padjal, A-Towa-Cant. And in the game no two NPC white mages wear the same robes. So you can construe it as a very unique robe.  However, like all fancy and unique things, people are bound to copy it. I'd consider the WHM AF+1 gear to be a good example of this. It looks very similar to the original WHM AF, but it has no lore significance. Also, in the WAR AF quests, Curious George tells you that his AF armor is just a replica of the original. So, entirely possible there are Healer Robe replicas out there as well. ^^ RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - TheWizard - 01-22-2014 Let us petition Square Enix for more elegant garb! RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - Tla - 01-23-2014 As I wrote somewhere, once I was IC caught while being OOC and with that on (it was af2 but not much changes) and I was asked since when I was a white mage. I simply answered I never was and that was simply a costume I had someone sew for me. After all, magical proprities apart, it takes nothing to make a perfect copy of a dress, just think of all the fake chanel.... Clothes are clothes, they don't have to say what's your profession, never judge a book by its cover they say? And yes I'm so terribly jealous of npc clothing <.< Kan-E-Senna and Merlwyb have something wonderful and I can understand why we can't have anything similar, they're too important npcs. But all the common clothes we see around? I'm specifically looking at all female npcs with long skirt+bustier, so much jealousy....and many others. In many games I found myself looking at npc clothing and thinking how sometimes it's much better then what we're given. I also agree we're completely lacking on the department of skirts that aren't towel-size, or any kind of elegant clothes. And generally, hardly any casual/non-combat clothes. I'd rather they give us someting similar from events, rather then non usable in rp costumes. RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - Kismet - 01-23-2014 Personally, I handle the "wearing one-of-a-kind Job gear ICly" issue like this: they're either wearing a replica, or something that just happens to look kind of similar. Easy! Do I wear my WHM robe on Astrid? You betcha! I worked hard to get her butt to 50 so of course I'm wearin' it! But she does not call it an official White Mage robe, or claim it was passed down to her from somebody, or anything else like that. She won't even call it a Conjurer's robe. I've demoted it down to something as mundane as possible. It's just a nice coat she wears for chilly weather. It's white with red accents and has a hood. That's it. ICly, I keep things as simple as that. Whether it looks just like the actual WHM robe or not is something I leave up to the RPer, but I keep my emotes about it (if any) intentionally short and vague. RE: Question Regarding the White Mage Robe - Steel Wolf - 01-24-2014 Considering how un-demure my powerhouse femRoe is, seeing her in a formal gown would delight me greatly. I agree, though, some more clothing choices would be most welcome. Hopefully there will be an appearance tab before too long so that way we can all really get our paper dolly dress-up on. :3 |
