RE: Glamour system speculation - Kailia - 01-25-2014

I know a lot of people, myself included, would like to use some of the items you got from the lightning returns event, for vanity. What gladiator/paladin wouldn't want to use the gunblade for their main weapon as they level?

So I just pray whatever they go with, doesn't require destroying/disabling the item. Cuz that would really be sad.

I was not aware what I said about the WoW system was so deeply offensive that it would invoke such furious correction, but... Okay, if that's the case, I'm sorry? Dazed

Oddly enough, I actually prefer Fang's Spear. But then, Oerba Yun Fang has always been my favourite character of FFXIII. Shame she came as part of a two-pack... *Stabs Vanille*

Also, pretty much seconding everything you mentioned in this post. Though, I could see disabling of the original making sense. (Note: I did not say I want them to disable the original, but rather I could see where they would be coming from.)

Well, I have what I want it to be.

But considering Squee's track record on implementing game systems in a way that at best feels half-assed and at worst is plagued by arbitrary restrictions that drain most of the fun out of it... Yeah, I don't have much hope. x.x

I wasn't offended.  You just had the wrong idea about the system.  Just because I underline or italicize something doesn't mean I'm mad.  It's just emphasis placed on words.

That said, I wanted to make sure people knew that wasn't the way it worked because hopefully SE will do something similar (since they seem to not want to do vanity slots?) instead of something closer to Aion or another of the asian grinders.

I love the Rift wardrobe system.  D:

The only limitations were of course that the gear had to be green or higher and that it had to be the same kind such as plate could only transmog with plate, etc. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the same system on FFXIV, I liked WoW's system of transmog and the fees that you paid to perform the action weren't to bad. Not to mention you could reverse it if you changed your mind.

I'm in Agreement to this, though I kinda hope they do it by a class system since Armor is a bit different in FFXIV. I.E PLDs an only Glamour their relics etc. It would bring a boost to us crafters and the exclusive styles we make.

I can see this being a thing, and I honestly don't think I'd mind much? I think it'd be highly annoying if you changed gear appearance every time you entered an open world battle. God my character would be blinking all over the place doing Beasttribe Dailies... But dungeons, I definitely wouldn't mind a no-vanity policy. Or at least a toggle-able option to turn Vanity off during party/allied content.

RE: Glamour system speculation - Tiergan - 01-26-2014

I'll *really* be unhappy if the items get destroyed in the process of using the Glamour system due to what several people mentioned already regarding AF.

You can't really get multiple AF sets when it comes to the original, non-myth stuff or exclusive event-items.

RE: Glamour system speculation - Ildur - 01-26-2014

I would mind a lot because the point of a vanity system is to wear whatever you want while you engage in gameplay (which basically means combat). Otherwise it's pointless. Ideally, Squee would add a toggle so people who don't want to be offended by people wearing swimsuits in combat can just see the real gear (it would also come in handy for PvP, since I think it's gear based, and so people could use the vanity system to hide their 'real' gear...though if it's a transmog thing then we'll have that problem anyway).

You can examine people in instances though, so I rarely think that would be a BIG problem.

As an aside, I always find it fascinating at the amount of hand-wringing and concern this game brings its fans.  Shows we care, and most of the time people are level about their worry instead of rattling the rafters with their screaming.

It's nice.  :3

It's also understandable--considering the kerfuffle that is FC housing, I never really can reserve judgement....so, to that point, I'm adopting a wait and see policy as best as my gear-turning mind can manage.

It's just better for my heartrate.  XD

Here we are level-headed. But if you check the official forums? It's like a civil war where the chosen weapons are cheap insults and ad hominem arguments!

I wanna reply there.  But I got permanently banned on the main forums for telling someone not to put up with mouth-breathing losers verbally abusing her in dungeons.

RE: Glamour system speculation - Ildur - 01-26-2014

Sounds like the mouth-breathing losers mass-reported you and the mods couldn't be bothered to check their facts. I can't decide if it's worth to try and get permission to post or not, though, because the forums are kind of a pool of trollish bile.

They're really bad and the moderation is...really random.  They'll leave up threads that have people just...ripping each other to shred.  Then ban people who post a funny screenshot (that shows a glitch).  And the terrible thing?  You can apparently get banned from the -game- if you piss a mod off on the forums.  It's really weird.
