RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Coatleque - 06-24-2014 Natalie... is THIS your keyboard? ![]() ka-chunk ka-chunk ka-chunk (typing sounds) RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Kage - 06-24-2014 There is nothing wrong with mechanical keyboards. In fact you can spill all the beer over them. Perhaps even dry them in the oven. RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Melkire - 06-24-2014 THIS IS TOO SILLY. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NS7Gkv4NNA RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - McBeef™ - 06-24-2014 (06-24-2014, 04:19 PM)ExKage Wrote: There is nothing wrong with mechanical keyboards. I put the oven on low ok! I had to dry it off from putting it in the shower. Also yes, mechanical keyboards rule. Don't be jealous of how Hi-tech my setups are Coat. I only use the technology of the future. RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Kage - 06-24-2014 Was it beer or V8 I forget. In all seriousness. I love mechanical keyboards. Yes even the one posted above or the not-reliable-if-you-spray-them-with-club-soda-ones. Were you hoping to get a completely new rig or just upgrade around it? Yeah, I probably should've worded that better, sorry. (06-24-2014, 02:44 PM)Aurora Wrote: I played WoW on laptops since 2006 and went through 3 of them because of them overheating. They CAN play these games but...I wouldn't recommend it. Hmm, well, I suppose I could try building my own. It might not be a good idea, considering I have absolutely zero experience with such things, but if it yields the best results, I could give it a try. If someone is willing to help me out, I'd appreciate it. Of course, they'd probably be walking me through the whole thing, so. Now that I think about it, it really comes down to whether or not my mom will actually agree to letting me get new...computer-stuffs. I'm only 16 and jobless, so getting something this expensive is gonna be hard. I guess if she says no this whole thread is basically pointless haha...actually, it would've been a good idea to talk to her before I made this thread...oops. Well, it was enlightening nonetheless. I'll talk to her and see what she says. Of course, they'd probably be walking me through the whole thing, so.I have done it! I am sure you can! Plug thing A into slot B! Its really not very hard, and it gives you a chance to take the time to make your cables look good ![]() You don't even need all that many parts, I don't think, but you do have to make sure that they'll fit together ![]() RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Kage - 06-24-2014 If you built it you need to make sure that your parts can connect to each other. Aka Does your PSU have the right connectors to power everything? ESPECIALLY THE GPU? (I ran into this like a dumb butt) Is your motherboard compatible with the ram or CPU? Usually not an issue. If you use a wireless connection you'll need a wireless network adapter. Most towers and/or motherboards will have info guides that will give you an idea of what should or does go where if you can't figure it out. We can help but it is sorta an involved process. RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Ackermans - 06-24-2014 So I talked to my mom and she insisted the budget be $500. For now, I guess that's the highest it'll be. Were it my birthday, I probably could've gotten away with the higher budget, but that day has already come and gone (it was two weeks ago...two weeks). If I haggle a little and step up my chore game, I can probably russle up another two hundred or so within a month because I have way too much free time on my hands and absolutely nothing to do. @Aurora So, assuming that the budget is $500-$700, do you think your fiance could come up with a shopping list for me? RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Coatleque - 06-24-2014 $500 should be plenty to buy a bare-bones pre-built off the shelf. You can always upgrade individual pieces later. As long as the system board and CPU are decent, you have a load of upgrade potential. Other pieces that are easily transferred between systems: Sound / NIC / SATA cards GPU's Power Supplies Physical Drives (HD / DVD / Disc) RE: Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.") - Oscare - 06-24-2014 (06-24-2014, 03:09 PM)Coatleque Wrote: Uh oh... now we've come down to comparing specs....Can we take a minute to talk about how huge that screen is?
