Well, I certainly don't think a sensible RPer would say "no, you absolutely can't defeat me because of your level," and I'm certainly not advocating that! My point is more that if you want to assert power well above your level, it just requires a bit more care in the OOC discussions around the conflict to explain how the scene plays out and why it plays out that way. That doesn't mean, for example, that you can't play a veteran spellcaster and not level since you're RPing, but it does mean that you probably should explain that that's your concept OOC during that discussion instead of just emoting throwing out Flare. |
