actually im just pointing out your lack of clear communication. my post history doesn't mean much at this point because im new, so you're kinda just grasping at straws to shut up someone who thinks you should just tell people you don't like them instead of dancing around it with "ACTUALLY IM LAUGHING" crap

So you are just attacking me by saying I have a bad grammar. I see, well I'll just take that point as you are now just personally attacking. Nice knowing you though Smile

Everyone, please. Things have gotten pretty heated and tense already. Just staahhhhp now, please.

Everyone has their own views and opinions, and everyone has a right and is entitled to those views and opinions. Respect everyone and their opinions please. Be nice, be friendly, be sweet and positive. There is no need for these arguments, we're all one big happy family (we are, right?) so please let it stay that way. Not everyone is the same, not everyone is you. Everyone is different.

Best is to not even get into an argument, but if you have to, please respect the other person's words, and have a neutral argument. Have a positive discussion, no need to let things get overly negative. Be happy and smile. No need to get aggressive or angry, please.

Most probably no one is going to even bother reading through all this, and no one is going to pay attention to this. The arguments will most likely still continue. But, it's becoming way too much, and I wanted to put in a voice of reason.

Go ahead and chase after me with pitchforks and torchfires or shotguns or chainsaws. But this is what I wanted to say.

So, please everyone, relax now, take it easy. It's quite enough. Please.

Well technically, the trailers in slightly dark gray backgrounds and screen is extremely vague for anyone to determine whether they have scales to their skin or not. But aren't these from Othard  though? So maybe they'll give brief lore of Othard that they are not related to Dravanians etc.

I am merely going off the screenshots such as this one:

As for scales... I just picked draconian because it was the first word to come to mind. Poor word choice, apologies. To me it looks less like it is supposed to blend into the skin and more like armor grown on top of it.

RE: Thoughts on the Au Ra? - Aldotsk - 12-24-2014

LOL well it surely did get a bit too carried away since we have someone literally just attacking because I made passive-aggressive statement.  It's not really much of a big deal to make a fuss out of it, but someone's too overly sensitive.

Regardless, I did digress getting into bickering over nothing.

Anyways, Au Ra does sound a bit too stupid. But Hyur as a word for a race was rather a mystery to me because that name also sounded silly.

Regardless, I am sure the next expansion will explain about the race's background of who they really are. Just hoping that they arent some nearly extinct races for people to RP as.

it's not a personal attack unless talking like it's opposite day is an integral part of your identity. i dont see what's so unreasonable about asking you to be forthright with other people.

Possible hint that they are rather evolved race of former Dravanians by thickening their scales and skins?

RE: Thoughts on the Au Ra? - Tiergan - 12-24-2014

This thread is going in circles, with people bringing up the exact same points over and over again while also bringing with them the same hostile attitude towards each other. I don't think we have discussed anything new in the last dozen pages. It's just been a back and forth of people being rude to each other.

If you guys can't talk about things like adults and can't get across your points without being harsh with each other, maybe now is the time to step away from the thread. Or it could hopefully just get locked. At this point, I feel like nothing good is coming from it.

RE: Thoughts on the Au Ra? - Faye - 12-24-2014

Role-players being trolled is nothing new, but it's disappointing to see role-players trolling other role-players...

Also always disappointing to see role-players taking the bait.

RE: Thoughts on the Au Ra? - Merri - 12-24-2014

I'd like to ask that everyone please just take a step back, take a deep breath, and if necessary - take the discussion to PMs to work things out there. This thread is getting quite off track, and if it spirals out of control, we will have to lock it. I will say, however, that this specific train of conversation ends here, with this post.

Thank you for your understanding!

RE: Thoughts on the Au Ra? - Nero - 12-24-2014

Man, I love you guys. Every other innocuous thread ends up turning into the reading equivalent of watching a car crash in slow motion. Never change, RPC.

Anyway, I do really like the look of them, but I agree with the general sentiment that Au'ra look unoriginal in the sense that they're basically just Hyur with horns and tails tacked on. I guess it makes things easy for cosplayers? I do genuinely like the aesthetics of the race though. The idea of originality is laudable and everything, but you wouldn't see many people playing a race that was truly bestial in appearance. I still have PTSD flashbacks from how horribly armor fit on Charr in Guild Wars 2.

The good news is that some people will be happy that they finally have a reason to change their name to Eddie Lizzard.

I have seen this point made a few times. I wanted to address it. I have seen a few people wondering if it is okay to dislike a race based off a preview/unfinished version. I have also heard this point from several other MMO communities regarding similar topics. At the time it has been brought up, I have found that if I disliked a preview I do end up still disliking the finished product.

The short of it is, the developers are not going to release something that isn't even nearly close to being finished. Typically when something like a new race is previewed, any changes from there on will usually be very minor. That, and unless Au Ra are super special and get an amazing amount of customization options that the other races don't get, we can expect their character creator to be very similar to what we have already seen.

I sincerely doubt, for example, that they will allow us to change any scale patterns because that just doesn't factor in as a comparative option to the other races. (the horns seem reminiscent of miqo'te tail styles. While possibly color of scales is influenced by hair color) Does that make sense?

There is a lot I wonder about. I wonder where on the height sliders the preview characters are. I wonder what kind of horn style selections we will get. I wonder what sort of hairstyles we will get. These are things that could help us change our mind on the race, certainly, but if your dislike of the design goes deeper than that... Then being able to tinker around in a character creator is not going to endear you to them.

While I agree with you in terms that character customization in this game is so very limited, majority of the people who are disliking the race but is willing to accept or try are just taking grain of salt to at least give it a shot. Instead of Elezen/Lalafell's ear shape, we might get Horn Shape option, and also as you said, Miqo'te's tail style into Au Ra's version of tail style.

Again, their game character design option is VERY VERY limited because they are still using 1.0 character creation option  except they just enhanced it by making interface options look more beautiful was all. Is it disappointing? Yes. But is it as bad as many other MMOs? No. Because many MMOs have big options  to create your character and yet the graphics and the way they are designed is really sloppy.

I don't know. Maybe future expansion after Heavensward might add more options like how they did for Mists/WoD  (Sort of).

But even Tera which was made after FFXIV 1.0, they still had some sloppy character creation options. Also MMOs can take it so far on how much they can apply into the game. :'/
