Wondering if there's going to be a steam train episode of this RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Bopdoot - 03-03-2015 I only watch FunHaus (previously Inside Gaming), but they're not really a "let's play" channel... And I'm really boring and I don't know why I have subscribers but *clears throat, unsubtle and shameless self promotion* https://www.youtube.com/user/ratbirdchampion I also stream (MOSTLY) daily during the week at around 7-8:30 PM EST http://www.twitch.tv/ratbirdchampion I'll go now ![]() RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Melkire - 03-03-2015 Retsupurae make fun of DSP. This counts, right? RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Kellach Woods - 03-04-2015 I don't watch LPs. I do, however, watch a metric fuckton of speedruns. Mostly attempts or practice runs on Twitch. It started out by a streamer I followed randomly hosting Scrubathon, me sticking around and then someone mentioning Land Blitzball which is my favorite game of all time. So essentially, if I don't catch it live I don't tend to watch it unless it's a fucking awesome highlight. Or a game I really enjoy. Here's a list of people I regularly watch : BOWIEtheHERO / Gerrick1 / TheLCC are currently running Shadow Hearts series speedruns, which tend to be in the 6-7 hour mark these days. I wub that series very much okay? Highspirits has to rise up in my favorites because he doesn't give a fuck how long a speedrun of a game is, if he likes the game he will attempt it. Which is why he has the current Dragon Warrior 7 WR at 15:57:41 as well as the current Lunar 1-2 WR. bichphuongballz is just extremely entertaining in my opinion even if, in his own words, he is bad at games. He'll also typically race anyone in RPGs he practices. eLmaGus is a bit more known, but will generally host/raid a lot of people, so chances are you'll encounter a lot of up-and-coming runners. CaptClever was at AGDQ and ran Commander Keen this year - But he also runs very old school FPSes and is currently working on Prince of Persia (DOS) for SGDQ. Every sunday night he goes (at least I think he still does) through Commander Keen 1-6 + side game. Old school PC goodness. That's nowhere near the level of people I follow but yeah : Those are generally good, and they host other people you might want to watch. RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Kage - 03-04-2015 One of the main reasons I started to watch LPs. One of them. When I watched Cry play Cry of Fear, the Half Life mod. Yeah why not? ![]() RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Kage - 03-04-2015 It's sometimes hard to watch the horror Let's Plays with Jumpscares. Cause I still get scared. ![]() RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Khoure - 03-04-2015 (03-03-2015, 11:08 AM)Gegenji Wrote:(02-27-2015, 01:16 PM)Khoure Wrote: For the most part, I don't have the patience for full, multi part playthroughs. I prefer the videos where they've cut the funnier/wittier portions and compiled them into something that's no longer than 20-30 minutes. Well, I can't comment on Game Grumps at all, like I mentioned I only ever watch a few LPs (cr1tikal, tbfp, vinesauce). I mean, I've seen one or two of their videos, like the infamous sonic 06 "line in the sand" speech which I did think was pretty hysterical. But yeah, I can't really address your grievances there. We just have different things we are looking to get out of these videos, and that's perfectly fine. I'm looking for something funny, something that will make me laugh. Automatically that means I am drawn to the banter, to clever and well delivered lines, to moments in the game that facilitate this- which is why length is a turn off, you can't expect anyone to keep up consistent hilarity while staying on point for an entire game's play through. You are instead looking to experience the game, this means you might be more likely to be put off by excessive banter or things that take attention from the play instead of adding to it- you probably want something more immersive. In either case, the LP community is so large by now that we both get plenty of what we want. He's just so unimpressed with jump scares it saps any scariness right out. Plus, he tells great stories. I adore Cr1itikal. He's the only LP'er I am subscribed to and watch. I recently did a marathon through most of his videos and need to get back to finishing it off soon. I can see how he might not fit everyones' tastes but he is just really entertaining for me, even if vulgar and crude at times. Plus.... he's just genuinely such a really, nice guy. With not keeping a cent of his partnership earnings and his naive aspirations with regards world corruption. It's just so endearing. Not forgetting the very seldom time you hear him laugh, the WHOLE comments section just bursts to life commenting on how it was such a mounumental occasion and how cute it was, hahaha. Not that this is the best example, but it's one of the most recent I had watched before stopping I think, and the point at around 7:20 just cracked me up with the way he speaks(and his choice of words). This is basically what you can expect for any scary game with it comes to Cr1itikal, Kage, even jumpscares. (Skip to around 7:00 or 7:20 and stop watching shortly after his encounter, if you wish to stop at all) (For a non-scary video, watch this from... lets say 3:00 to the end just so you get a bit of context. Maybe it's just me but the last enemy and his following rant just slayed me) RE: Favorite Let's Plays and Speedruns - Kage - 03-08-2015 By the way, the race for Link to the Past usually happen 12pm Pacific. http://www.speedrunslive.com/race/?id=99vb4 It's an hour going in right now. http://www.twitch.tv/RPGLimitbreak just finished a relay race for FFIV-V-VI and the bonus is a Mystic Quest four way race |
