RE: The New Classes - Seriphyn - 12-22-2014 Hmm, dark knight being Au Ra...possibly. They do have Au Ra demonstrating Dark Knight in the publicity...but they also have Au Ra as astrologians (which I think the hypothetical consensus is that it's Ishgardian?) I would have thought an Au Ra tank class would have been Samurai, actually, to be consistent with Ninja. Doma is the 'eastern' themed province. The Au Ra seem to be from greater Othard in addition -- meaning a larger mix of cultures and the like. RE: The New Classes - Seriphyn - 12-22-2014 Oh! I thought Au Ra were from Doma specifically. Them being from Othard in general wouldn't surprise me, similar to how Midlanders are across all Eorzean territories. RE: The New Classes - Gegenji - 12-22-2014 I have a Roe alt floating in my head that's just waiting for Machinist to drop so he can be a gun pirate. I just wish I had a little more freedom with the Roe customization. I see him as this ungodly scrawny Roe who uses guns and stuff to level the playing field. Doesn't have as much effect when he's basically just as burly as the rest. And I can see Chachan's older brother on the non-RP server I play on taking up Astrologist. My headcannon has him being all about using knowledge and tactics as a weapon, so both Scholar's tactical viewpoints and Astrology's divining of enemy movements both seem to gel quite well with him. Though, I ultimately see him sticking to the former more than the latter. Still, I'm definitely gonna give it a shot. Don't have anyone for DRK, but I'll probably level it on my main because it's there. Unless my other alt floating in my head decides he wants to be a Dark Knight rather than a simple Pugilist. I'd need to see more about the abilities and such to see if my hateful jailer would be more suited for that sort of thing. So, all in all, I'm pretty excited about all of them, even if Chachan is basically staying Gladiator-slash-Paladin. Gotta have someone still clinging to the light with everyone going Dark Knight! ![]() RE: The New Classes - E'irawen - 12-25-2014 I want to thank you Lacour immensely for posting that infs, as I haven't been in game recently to really catch up on the changes. I'm eager to learn even more so I know what track to set my character on, story-wise. Maybe he can be recruited as a student later on, haha. RE: The New Classes - Inessa Hara - 12-25-2014 I think Dark Knight will be an Au Ra unique class for a few specific reasons:
In other word's, Dark Knight might get race locked like Dragoon. xD This is just a theory though. I dont know if this will actually happen, but I did do alot of thinking on the matter. RE: The New Classes - E'irawen - 12-25-2014 Hm, this presents a thing then. The character I want to play as an IC astrologian-in-training is a mi'qote. If it was race locked in the lore, I wonder what ideas would be able to explain such a thing? RE: The New Classes - Inessa Hara - 12-25-2014 I wouldn't say yet. There has been no lore presented at this time to say anything on the matter. With that said, Ishgard's native race is mostly Hyur/Elezen so if they follow the same root that they did with Dragoon be locked to Ishgard only techniques, then it will probably have the same race locks on it. This is a maybe however as I dont know nor does anyone know yet exactly what Astroligian lore entails. RE: The New Classes - Seriphyn - 12-25-2014 The race/nation lock to classes doesn't stop people from RPing stuff like Miqo or lala dragoon. Like Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai. Like Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai. Nor should it be, in my view. <3 If these classes were meant to be race-locked, they would have been by the devs. RE: The New Classes - V'aleera - 12-25-2014 (12-25-2014, 03:30 AM)Inessa Hara Wrote: I wouldn't say yet. I'm choosing to not use the term "race-locked" because that's simply not a notion explicitly supported by lore. A slant absolutely exists, and to an arguably extreme degree, but still. Like Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai. By the same principle that it's not theoretically impossible for a white dude to train as a samurai in Imperial Japan. It still remains strange. RE: The New Classes - Kellach Woods - 12-25-2014 If I make Au Ra they'll be a dragoon. Just because I really need to make the most nigh incomprehensible character ever.
