RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - TheLastCandle - 06-11-2015 Yvelont's return is driven by familial bonds and his stepfather's increasing lust for power. Much of his personal storyline will revolve around that, but he will be assisting with his homeland's defense as well. I'm excited to play out both, though the former will be limited to those he trusts or who have a personal stake. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - U'roh Tia - 06-11-2015 After some events in another Rp Roh is wanted by the blades for serious crimes (obstruction of justice, three counts of murder of peacekeepers.) So to protect his loved ones and to avoid them being brought into the cross fire he has chosen to lead the trail as far away from them as possible. He also seeks to gain a better understanding of the soul crystal he wields while there. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - shotgunbadger - 06-12-2015 This seems like the best place to ask, while I'm planning out a possible alt idea for the expansion. Does Ishgard have any implications of mercenary use, or do they mainly stick to their knights? I'm trying to think of a hook a Roegadyn could have there, but I'm thinking it may be more 'realistic' to have them mainly stick around Camp Dragonhead with a reason for going to Ishgard proper of 'yea I wanna see what's past those big dumb gates'. House Fortemps is known for taking in mercs and treating them respectfully enough compared to the other houses! I believe his house will be the one to go to for mercs to serve Ishgard in change of coin. As well in several quests it is mentioned that the nobles are happy enough to throw gil at whoever comes to save their asses atm. So gil could totally be a wonderful drive to go behind the gates. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - shotgunbadger - 06-12-2015 Yea, Fortemps runs Dragonhead, right? I knew they had no problem tossing cash at anyone who was willing to help, wasn't sure if they were unique weirdos or if 'yea ok pay the outsider to do this dangerous job' was a common thing. Nah Ishgard is growing rather desperate at this point. Not as if they want to, but they got no other choice but to reel in outside help at this point! RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - Bryn - 06-12-2015 Bryn goes where she feels she can do the most good. If Ishgard throws open its gates and there are souls in need within, her quest for redemption demands that she go. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - Leggerless - 06-12-2015 You know how Machinists have muskets, rifles, pistols, etc? Imagine the IC gil you can rake in if you can figure out a way to mass produce and sell firearms like those, especially to a city-state that finds itself in constant need of new soldiers and weapons to fend off the dragons. Actually at this point we don't even know if the Gates are opening for all or just the WoL and his companions. Granted if the gates are still closed to all in lore, most if not all will ignore and handwave it and go in anyway. That said the government of Ishgard may not, but we know there is a good deal of wealthy and powerful families that would be the patron of a sellsword for things the church may not aid in. He could be talking out of his authority, but I'm inclined to believe that with the war brewing in the Ishgardian background, it's a choice he was able to bruteforce to the higher Ishgardian authorities, thus not only inviting the WoL to come help.(06-12-2015, 11:53 AM)shotgunbadger Wrote: This seems like the best place to ask, while I'm planning out a possible alt idea for the expansion. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - shotgunbadger - 06-12-2015 Yea the statement that made everyone happy was 'open to the people', he could well have been talking out of his ass, sure, but as of now the news going around the world is 'they gonna toss the gates open'. By how it sounds Ishgard is pretty screwed, they need more than just one warrior to help them even if gamewise the WoL will be doing the 'big jobs'. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - Ryanti - 06-13-2015 This is just simple headcanon here, but I think it's one or two possibilities. 1.) All people. Yay! Everyone can move to Ishgard and things will be like it was in the past before they closed their doors. 2.) Only adventurers. AKA every player character. But not the average schmo. I think the former makes sense more to me because in my headcanon, I just can't see the devs allowing only the WoL and his party in when the whole idea of the expansion is opening up an entire new part of the country to a swath of adventurers, which is how the devs portray the players running around. Maybe it'll be a slow and gradual process, as any wave of immigrants in a country creates... issues. But yeah. They also said in the Live Letter: "Since we have added Ishgard to the city-states, there will be a market-board here as well." https://youtu.be/Hh_A8QMDefE?t=516 Around 8:36. So in my head-canon, I reason that... if they're opening the market in Ishgard, then that must also mean trade is going to commence between the North and elsewhere now. So that's just my opinion on it. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - Renata Lynn - 06-18-2015 Eorla has no reason at the moment to journey to Ishgard. Renata, on the other hand...Percival has family in Ishgard, and where one goes, the other is not far away. He's leaving the moment he gets word that the gates have opened. Renata is tending to a few matters...making sure Eorla will be alright, taking care of some business affairs, and packing for her journey (icly. Oocly, I can't get HW until the 24th when I have my birthday monies lol). She won't be far behind Percival. RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - Zanther - 06-18-2015 Well, simply put, Zanther is a delver of old ruins and has a big taste for knowledge. So naturually he will be intrested IC wise about the opening of the new lands, that and the group he is in had some ties to the lands to a degree anyway. Since he's still new and stuff, lots of stuff will still be happening in the old areas so I am not expecting him to spend all his IC time in 3.0 areas. He is also glad he doesn't need to sneak into some areas now to read their books RE: Your excuse for Ishgard? - Leomoon - 06-19-2015 Tana has two reason. 1: She is a member of the Twin adders and thus was called to duty by them, was was requierd to scout the land and make locations that possible bases and such may be established and if they could make a small headquarters in Ishguard. 2: She is being called by a force. I have a RP reason for her becoming a Dark knight by being called by a force towards the land but she has no idea where or why, all she knows its on a floating island and its a large sword that is constantly changing shape. |
