RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Sarnai Kha - 06-27-2015 Y'shtola traveled through the Aether stream without a tether to bring her back in order to escape capture during the events of 2.5. Her eyes lost all their luster and life as a result of using the forbidden magic. Zyrusticae Wrote:So what's up with Y'shtola's eyes? No one's mentioned that so far, and it really struck me how different she looked with them. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Sin - 06-27-2015 I thought the implication was that she was blind. Matoya cautions her against seeing through aether and how that saps your life force. I thought the idea was that the trip through the aetherstream or the forbidden spell blinded her, and this whole time she accompanies you she's using some kind of aether-sight. Also, yeah Ixali seem to have been manufactured by the Allagan's, but fell into disuse because of genetic instabilities. Presumably the same genetic instabilities that caused their loss of wings. My current pet theory is that similar to the Titans and their creations in WoW mythos, the beastmen tribe were crafted service workers for the Allagans. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Jana - 06-27-2015 (06-27-2015, 02:54 PM)Reiner Dorn Wrote: So curious question, not sure if anyone has brought this up. But in the Dungeon The Fractal Continuum, one of the mobs / creatures in Alagan vats are Ixalion. They look like proto ixali just with wing arms instead of hands. So this would leave me to think the Ixali were manufactured, is this a thing I just never knew or is this a reveal? The console entries inside of the dungeon mention that they are manufactured (weaknesses listed include genetic instability, thus why our Ixal don't have feathers to fly with). I ended up being kind of right in my prediction before Heavensward: Azys La basically is Ayatlan. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kellach Woods - 06-27-2015 Matoya cannot properly identify Alphinaud and Alisae. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kage - 06-27-2015 Question why does everyone say it's the derplander? I see... myself? RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - McBeef™ - 06-27-2015 (06-27-2015, 08:03 PM)Kage Wrote: Question why does everyone say it's the derplander? I see... myself? Well then the derp is you. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kellach Woods - 06-27-2015 the title of Derplander actually fits Kell. in fact the dude at the end once I'm done with it would certainly be far more competent than him. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Edgar - 06-27-2015 Derpkitty confesses, he did nothing when he should have. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kellach Woods - 06-28-2015 So I'm at that spot where you encounter Tiamat. Yet, the only question I have is... Where's Lich and Marilith? Sure I mean the Kraken is TECHNICALLY present though I wouldn't call it as plot critical as, say, Tiamat. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Aduu Avagnar - 06-28-2015 (06-27-2015, 02:42 PM)Sarnai Kha Wrote:I would say that is the use of the forbidden spell, rather than simply traveling through the lifestream. The manner of travel used by y'shtola was risky and she left part of herself behind. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - LystAP - 06-28-2015 (06-28-2015, 12:02 AM)Kellach Woods Wrote: So I'm at that spot where you encounter Tiamat. Probably somewhere else. I feel bad for Tiamat. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kage - 06-28-2015 I don't think it was the spell. It was implied that the spell was forbidden not because it would lead to loss of sight but because failure of the spell was high and as such you would easily lose yourself in the Lifestream. Being lost in the aether led to being blind and as Y'shtola says, it was but a small price to pay to spend time in it. The long time she spent in the Lifestream seems to be the reason why she lost her sight. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kismet - 06-28-2015 Either way, my new name for Y'shtola is "Special Snowflake Eyes". RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Aduu Avagnar - 06-28-2015 Sorry for the misunderstanding of my post. The spell is risky because you can easily lose yourself in the lofestream. And as they stated the longer you stay in it, the higher the risk of your personal aether unraveling. Hence why I said she left part of herself behind. RE: [Spoilers] heavensward lore discussion - Kellach Woods - 06-28-2015 Posting in here instead of the screenshot thread, but... What the fuck is that? Looks Garlean, but at the same time, like a mecha-Bismarck. |
