My point wasn't really that they were East vs West boy bands but really... that's just all around what seems to be the Pop thing in Japan. Their older mature Pop stars dress and have that aesthetic. It's not just J pop idols but their idols in general.

There's been a point floating around this thread that the East and West are inherently different in aesthetics. I just wanted to emphasize how that is not as true as some would like to believe.

On a slightly more constructive note in relation to the flak you're taking from this thread--if your point is really just to say the main cast of the game is not varied enough and therefore unrealistic, I feel like the title of this thread doesn't really convey that. A title like "Men or Dolls?" could easily be taken to imply that since they're "pretty boys," they're not "real" men (they're dolls: something fake, abnormally pretty, feminine, child-like etc.) which is a kind of offensive (and inaccurate) statement to make. So if your complaint is really just that the cast is too homogenous being all the niche archetype of pretty boys, the title sort of undermines that.

You know... I couldn't bring myself to say it, but I thought the same thing lol.

As well as playing a Miqo'te in game... they're definitely the most "pretty boy" race and if you look at their available hairstyles, certainly the most geared toward an "effeminate" or "emo" aesthetic...

Let's not forget the whole bleeding broodily thing the character is doing while bandages waft through the air around him. And the fact that the art is actually by feimo who paints almost nothing except super pretty final fantasy-esque men. You picked a really hilariously hypocritical avatar to go with your topic.

Additionally, your posts would have gone over so much better if you didn't straight up insult folks (Clover specifically) who were trying to have a simple debate with you. Clover was extremely polite - far more than I would have been with you - and it would have been good of you to respond in kind even if you completely disagree.

I believe he's supposed to be like.... the loving brother bodyguard type.? Sworn to protect by duty and lineage (Lord title here!) he's also got that bro for life thing with noctis.

Yeah he's a main cast member... and hnnnnggg. I just want him all over me.

Honestly, the only characters who look like Noctis are... Noctis and Prompto. Prompto, I'm theorizing, is based off of the Host Club look, which is vastly over the top.

I really really love that they made it LOOK like he bleached his hair. Nice touch

But, the two other main guys, besides HNNGG Gladiolus, don't really follow that Aesthetic.

Cole/Cor Leonis looks like he could be Captain America - a very handsome older WEstern looking man.man and Ignis looks like a lot of dude I know who actually play this game >.> Kinda skinny, glasses, a bit nerdy.

I think people are really focusing on Noctis who -- to me -- just looks like your average 16 year old in Tokyo.
