I'll spell it out for you.

Your argument is that because there's sexual themes in XIV, there's no call for us, as a community, to tag posts that contain graphic sexual or violent content that might upset someone.

I'm telling you that there's plenty of other settings out there that dive much deeper into these themes, yet the people who play in them have the good grace to tag their stuff so they don't upset anyone.  It's a very common thing these days.  People usually call them trigger warnings.  Being considerate of others isn't hard.

Oh I didn't say it was hard to understand. As a matter of fact I understood it perfectly the first time. I said (not in so many words) that it's silly and an entirely invalid argument.

"others do it so we must do it as well" isn't an argument. It's simple as that.

No one here or anywhere else on the forum (to my knowledge) has gone anywhere beyond what we see and read every day from NPCs in the game. There's no need to pander to oversensitiveness from people that seem to have no problem with exactly the same things in the game

So do you gain anything by being this stubbornly inconsiderate, other than being spared having to type an extra couple words?

I think his argument was more that there's no graphic content in this thread, so why would it need a label?

The people you'd want to "label" their posts are unlikely to read this thread anyway.  But if the forum owners decide that it's needed, I'm sure people will do it.

Quote:Forum roleplays are what I'm referring to.  There's other examples, such as fanfiction archives and the like.

But this isn't fanfiction, and it isn't RP.  This was a setup for RP in the game world, not on the forums.  There's no graphic content in this thread at all.  I don't understand why you would feel it needs to be labeled.

I'm still trying to understand what was so terrible about the posts in this thread that people feel that it needs to be "labeled" because the faint of heart might get upset.  What is there to be upset about in this thread?  Sure, there's innuendo - but none of it is blatant, and the situation was eventually explained.

Nebbs' post never said it should be applied to this thread.  I never said it, either.

But the tagging idea was brought up, and that's simply what I was arguing for.

Nebbs specifically said she didn't think it should be applied.  You, however, didn't say that.

I think this might better be brought up (for the sake of clarity and also because it doesn't exactly fit in with the conversation in this thread, which was about recruiting for specific RP, not labeling threads) in a separate thread.  What do you think?

So?

And you're probably right.
