I mean, in the case of Karasu Redbeak, the 'red' is referring to the blood that he has spilled in his betryal to Doma. Obviously, his parents couldn't know he'd do that when he was born, so did he gain the "Redbeak" surname only after doing the evil deed? Who knows.
For now, the tentative name for my Raen will be Aki Rainfall (Aki means "autumn", and autumn is rainy). But I'll be waiting to make sure to know how Doman surnames are gained by lore.
Particular to Miqo'te, I do know characters who do not adhere to the "tradition" or cultural norms of their respective clans. Having said that, it's been easy enough to justify why those characters have such unusual names! So, I am not too worried.
Though also not disagreeing that waiting is probably best.
I am personally going with the "titles" consideration, in regards to surnames. This is likely easier for people who intend on role-playing someone from a ninja-esque or warrior/military background.

Anyway, my point was a few mistakes can easily [enough] be justified. How other people intend to name their characters, play their characters, and apply their characters, makes no real difference to me unless I humour them in role-play. So! *Shrugs*

I'm debating a race change for my main, but it's not to Au Ra. Â She'd be changing to something either draconian or demonic, but just happens to look Auri. Â It'll require a lot of OOC clarification, really no idea if I'll do it.

I also plan on waiting on when the naming convention is released. I plan on creating a new Au Ra as she will, and already is a part of Aeri'ica's back story. Also the idea of using fantasia to change races is abhorrent to me since Aeri'ica was born a Moon Keeper and always will be.

I had a character I axed as part of a personal storyline not that long ago who died because she had been brought back to life imperfectly after dying. The energy supply keeping her alive sort of got cut severely, and her and her twin brother faded away into the Aether. She's already Fantasia'd, and I just need to namechange for an Au Ra. Off topic, I dislike the female Au Ra body types immensely. I was hoping for something taller, more mature, more..filled out considering the size of the males. Ah well. I still would like to have one under my belt regardless. Technically I'll have two as I filled a slot with a male character as well with a name similar to Yugiri's convention to Fantasia later, so I'll have one of each gender. But, details.

I've got an open character slot and I've been thinking about character ideas, with one specifically sticking to me! Ultimately whether I will or won't make an Au Ra depending on a few factors, like the exact nature of what they are.

She was meant to be a filler character when I made her as I had planned to go Au'ra unless lore and everything else made me frown (which it didn't.)
She is going to be a machinist and loves to build things, especially things that explode. She is literally an egghead. She isn't big on group outtings as she would rather sit and watch people then converse with them; but that obviously won't stop her from getting up and inspecting something on someone's person as she tries her best to recreate normal motion in her machines (which never works out).
She has a love for gunpowder/explosive powder and can (she is already ic and being rp'd ingame) found often at the Dubious Goods store trying to work in the Cat Cannon requested by Verad or out in the field field testing some of her powders.
