Apparently there are discussions about making a new mobile app for this.

The news originally came from the podcast "From Eorzea With Love"(in Japanese) where Yoshida-P was interviewed. The above link summarizes the news and translates as follow:

•New FFXIV App in the making


•Will allow to chat with FC members(among others)


•Planned to be released around Heavensward.


Sounds good Big Grin It was a very small announcement near the end of the podcast, so no details revealed yet.

Rift had guild/friend chat on their mobile app, it's totally awesome!
If this is similar to that, as it sounds, people should love this.

Yes please. Rift had this and though it was a bit buggy it was awezome to be able to chat from anywhere :-D  hopefully it will be both apple and android friendly.

I have wanted this feature ever since I started.

Yes not everyone has a smartphone but at least you don't have to add 300+ people to different channels (like Skype or Google Hangouts).

Would be neat. I never downloaded the Libra Eorzea app but if they manage to mimic what WoW's Armory app does, that'll be very interesting to me.

In before (inb4, as the cool kids say) this is JP onry for launch window and trickles to NA/EU months later.

this is great! where i'd love to have the option for them to later on include linkshells...i fear erik would have to resort to drastic measures to get me away and do stuff afk....
