Your forum RP experience should help, though you will tend to find the pace of RP somewhat higher as if you  were doing chat room RP. Also use of your characters physical location to things and ability visually underline things both enhances and restricts you.
Best things to start with is [The Role-Play Handbook] a great resource.
Also check out the [RP Linkskell & Free Company Lists for Balmung] for things that suit you. A Linkshell is like an in game chat channel and you can have 8, and a Free Company is like a Guild.
