Possible to add extra BBCode? - Eternal Darkness - 08-10-2012

I was wondering if it were possible to add some of the other BBCode tags that are out there, such as the [edit] tag, [rule] tag and some others that could potentially add a new element to some of the posts made here on the RPC, especially for those who write articles or who want to spruce up their Linkshell or RP events even further with some extra code. I saw that there's an option to add more BBCode tags if you're an administrator with the proper permissions. I'm not sure how difficult it is, but if it's possible it would be a really nice addition! :3

For those who write stories, I found a particularly nice BBCode tag that IS active on the RPC: the {indent} tag. What does this do? It creates an indent on the first line of a paragraph, so there's no more strict left flushing of your text. It might add some character to future stories or articles, giving them that official look. Here's an example of the tag at work.


Ailith bowed deeply at her waist, placing her right arm over her stomach, palm flat and fingers straight. “Greetings Elda Ezrith. I hope the night finds you well.”


Ezrith nodded to her, a wide smile spreading across his lips. “Well met, Twin Blade.” He replied in his deep voice that Ailith had always found pleasant. It had a certain musical quality to it, magical in its roots, that carried with it a pleasant baritone.

There already is an indent code XD. Third line of text editor, 2nd icon from the left.

One of the RPC upgrades from awhile ago drastically increased the number of BBCodes by introducing the new text editor. We have more BBCodes now than most sites, including Enjin. I'm not sure what 'edit' and 'rule' are though. Care to elaborate more on that?

There are three BBcode tags that I was looking at and have tested that aren't working on the RPC; the aforementioned [edit] and [rule] tags, and the offtopic tag, [ot]. I took some snap shots of what each one does:

Rule: Basically creates a divider line to separate bodies of text, you can change the size and color of the line.

Offtopic: The off topic tag creates a white box around surrounding the body of text within the code with an "Offtopic" label. This might be good for anyone RPing on the forums for an OOC reference. Just thought it would by nifty.

Edit: This tag works similar to the Offtopic tag but instead gives an "Edit" label. So if you edit something, like on a news post or whatever, instead of making a large "EDIT:", this box cleans it up and makes it more noticeable, so people are more likely to see it.

And I just found the {indent} tag, I didn't know there was an icon for it :p

I also noticed the ordered and unordered list tags don't work. Not really, detrimental, but I just tried to use it for a news post. the regular {list} tag works though, so that's just as good ;3 And thanks for taking the time to read over this Kylin.

We also have the rule and off topic codes ^^.


The rule code is the on the middle line of buttons. It's the horizontal line icon.

[offtopic]The off topic icon is on the third line. Icon is the yellow bubble with quotes in it.[/offtopic]

Lists work as well, though they're a bit confusing in usage.

Ok, lol. The code was different than what I was trying to use. lol I suppose I'll pay more attention to the text editor. ;p
