Wayfarer's Rest: The Last Bard Standing!

Are you ready to rock Eorzea!? The Wayfarers of Eorzea will be hosting a singing competition on the 3rd sun of the second Astral Moon. Wayfarer's Rest will be remodeled and fitted with a stage for our contestants to perform on for a chance to win the riches and glory! Artists, this is your time to shine and show us what you are made of! You will have 10 minutes to win over the judges and the crowd. Here is what each contestant will be graded by:
  • Lyrics
  • Stage Presence, show the crowd you own the stage!
  • Musical Talent
  • Costume Design


The rules are simple, sign up, show up, and showcase your song in the allotted time. Many contestants will compete, but only one will win our Grand Prize! Signups can be done at Wayfarer's Rest or contact L'rinhi Kett by Mogmail. We welcome any who would like to attend to support their friends or just to watch the event unfold. Participants drink free, yes FREE, for participating in the event. Patrons who come to watch will have access to our bar and restaurant as well as several door prizes!
  • Door Prizes: TBD
  • 3rd place: 100,000 gil
  • 2nd place: 250,000 gil, a new instrument of their choice(IC item only)
  • 1st Place: 500,000 gil, a new instrument of their choice(actual housing item), and the opportunity to play for the Grand Opening of our upcoming new establishment(Date Pending)

Good Morning Everyone! Or Good Evening, Good Afternoon, or Good Night!

This is the first of many contests we are holding throughout the month of March and we are starting it with a big bang with the bard competition. Over the last few months Bard RP is becoming more and more popular. So, we are supporting the bards and giving you a chance to come show off your bard skills with other players of the same interest. But let's get to the guts of how this will be playing out. This is a mixture of rules and guidelines that give you an idea how how this event will proceed.
  • Signups are to be accepted no later than March 3rd, 3:00 PM CST. That is the deadline. Anything after might possibly cause scheduling conflicts and is not guaranteed. You can find the 'form' set up at the bottom of this post. Please make sure to sign up ahead of time!
  • Contestants must be present at the event at 7:00 PM CST. The order contestants will go in will be announced at that time. If you will be late please contact me ahead of time and let us know and we will try to hold a later time slot for you but no promises.
  • Contestants will have 10 real minutes on stage to perform. This should provide enough time for all contestants without keeping everyone very late.
  • Performances will consist of lyrics, description of their movements on stage, and their attire.
  • Lyrics should be of your own making. Extra points to who write an original song, but players may edit existing songs from RL to fit an Eorzea theme. They cannot be word for word. We suggest that you limit your song to 1 verse and the course unless you are an exceptionally fast typer.
  • Description is exactly what it sounds like. Describe what your character is doing. Moving around the stage, looking fearful, full of confidence, leaning in towards a crowd member. Go crazy and have fun with it.
  • Attire is your outfit. This won't hurt you if you wear your normal duds, but those who really try to plan out an outfit to match their music will gain extra kudos.
  • Emotes will be in yell to separate them from the rest of the emotes that fill the tavern.
  • After performing the judges might ask questions or comment on the performance.
  • You must be present at the end to win!

Additionally, we have a few standard rules for attending the event and participating:

  1. No IC combat or OOC open arguments in the Rest during the event.
  2. Please respect other players.
  3. Please try to keep lyrics somewhat filtered. This is mainly pertaining to an abundance of f-bombs in songs.
  4. Do not harass other attendees or you may be asked to leave.

For those wishing to watch the event take place and enjoy the fine music being played, we will be serving drinks to patrons. We encourage anyone who would like to come to do so as this will be just like a tavern night with music! Door prizes will be awarded randomly to patrons during the night that are in the audience. We will pick a time during the event, put everyone's name into the Random Name Generator, and then announce it on stage. You must be present to win!

Great event in all respects, and the performances.. people are just getting better and better.

Aside from the magnificent riveting performances I also enjoyed those RPing inexperienced bards.. that was great to see.  

The prizes.. oodles and oodles, fat cats and clothing flying everywhere!

Maybe consider some of the prizes for up-and-coming performers? That way we can reward great RP as well as great performance.
