Roman-style gladiators? - Zhavi - 03-03-2016 Heyo! I have a friend I recently convinced to buy the game. He started a Gladiator, and was entranced by the gladiator gear with clear Roman influence; he enjoys Roman history. He asked me if there was any way he could roleplay a true-to-style Roman gladiator from somewhere in Hydaelyn who was raised as a slave trained to fight in gladatorial matches that wouldn't be lorebreaking and...I have no idea. Please help with advice and knowledge! RE: Roman-style gladiators? - Sounsyy - 03-03-2016 Point him towards this Gladiator lore post! The 2.0 questline for Gladiator does an absolutely AWFUL job at showcasing what it means to be a Bloodsands Gladiator in Ul'dah. Ul'dah's gladiators are actually very influenced by the roman coliseum style matches with men vs beasts, men vs slaves, etc! There are even prison fighters or slave fighters called Noxius. Hope this helps! ^^ RE: Roman-style gladiators? - Zhavi - 03-03-2016 Very much yes, thanks so much Sounsyy! RE: Roman-style gladiators? - Cato - 03-03-2016 He could always go down the Garlean route as well given how they're largely inspired by Romans in many ways - and it'd be nifty to see more Garlean role-players around in general, really - especially those that yet remain loyal to Garlemald. RE: Roman-style gladiators? - Paradox - 03-08-2016 A bit off topic, but we really, really need more Garlean lore. Hopefully if/when we go into Othard, we'll get more on how Garlean society actually works. As for the Gladiator thing. As far as I know, there are prisoners that are Gladiators, so I assume there are slave gladiators as well. Some do it for sport and fame, some do it because they have no choice. It shouldn't be too hard to make it fit! |
