Don't you hate how marauder is a Sea Wolves thing but.. - Yuella - 12-07-2016 warrior is a Hellsguard thing?  I just can't RP my Sea Wolves as a Warrior or I just can't play a Hellsguard character that starts in Limsa Lominsa. The best thing I can think of is start Hellsguard as a gladiator in Ul'dah and make him a warrior while OOC'ing the Marauder part. RE: Don't you hate how marauder is a Sea Wolves thing but.. - Sounsyy - 12-07-2016 The Maelstrom is actually training some of their marauders in the Warrior way so a Sea Wolf, or any race, can become a warrior now. Eynzahr Wrote:Speaking of which, with the Sahagin threat dealt with, the Maelstrom can proceed with its plan to train its troops in the way of the warriors. And who better to train them than the two siblings who brought their teachings to Eorzea in the first place? There's also nothing that stops a Hellsguard from traveling to Limsa Lominsa. The entirety of the Warrior questline takes place in La Noscea. The Hellsguard who populate Ul'dah do so because they are mercenaries or adventurers who left their home in Abalathia's Spine. But nothing prevents one from deciding privateering in Limsa might be more lucrative. There was also a Warrior in the Company of Heroes, a Lominsan mercrnary group. Gerolt Wrote:Fancy yerself a dauntless warrior, like they had in the olden days, eh? So the rumors're true, then─the Company of Heroes did have one in their ranks... Bloody hells. I'll tell you what, though─we weaponsmiths like a good axe, and them warriors' axes were better than good. Ain't no weapon more fearsome to look at, I reckon. RE: Don't you hate how marauder is a Sea Wolves thing but.. - Mermaid - 12-07-2016 (12-07-2016, 05:44 AM)Yuella Wrote: I just can't play a Hellsguard character that starts in Limsa Lominsa. I don't have the lore book but someone recently posted all the information for the main cities-states on the FFXIV subreddit. The distribution of races included "10% Other" for Limsa Lominsa (and the other 3 cities-states for that matter). I personally interpreted that as any of the races could be living there it's just not common. I'm sure you could find a reason to have a Hellsguard living in Limsa Lominsa. The place has a lot of trade for example so maybe one parent was a trader who settled there? RE: Don't you hate how marauder is a Sea Wolves thing but.. - Gegenji - 12-07-2016 Also, nothing is technically forcing you to play as a "marauder" or a "warrior." You could just be a sellsword or somesuch that just happens to use an axe as their weapon of choice. Heck, if you wanted to swing it, you could even be a Paladin who chooses an executioner's axe over the usual sword and board as his weapon of justice. Out of the many "violations" of lore, being a Sea Wolf Warrior or a Hellsguard Marauder is pretty low on the list. You should be fine running whichever one you prefer. ![]() RE: Don't you hate how marauder is a Sea Wolves thing but.. - Rosehip - 12-07-2016 (12-07-2016, 09:12 AM)Gegenji Wrote: Also, nothing is technically forcing you to play as a "marauder" or a "warrior." This is pretty much how I treat it with Seraj's Archery. She's more at home in Ul'dah than in Gridania for sure, so where she trained is purely an in game technicality. I think that's probably how a lot of people goes about it, as it would be rather restricting otherwise. RE: Don't you hate how marauder is a Sea Wolves thing but.. - Aya - 12-07-2016 I wouldn't take things too literally with regards to classes. There are people who use swords that didn't train for the blood sands. The finest lancers in Eorzea are not Gridanian, but Ala Mhigan. There are people who use knives that don't belong to a crazy psuedo-cult-gang in Limsa Lominsa. I am intrigued by this opinion and would like to know more. |
