On Patrol. - Thibault - 03-03-2017
Good afternoon! I'd like to introduce to you all Thibault Colville!
First, a bit about me as a person behind the screen. I'm a Law Enforcement Officer of 4 years now who has recently given it up to teach History/Social Studies at the middle school level. (Yea, I'm crazy) With so much free time that I managed to get I got into League of Legends and WoW until I saw an add for Final Fantasy. Long story short I'm here on the server Balmung and well I'll stop rambling now.
Meet Thibault, an investigator in Ul'dah city. What is an investigator in this sense? Well, in my deep and thorough research of resources I could find it appears that the Brass Blades seem to be the more 'police' of Ul'dah with the Immortal Flames as the military, and then the Sultansworn as like the secret service more or less! My character started as a Brass Blade, and then was offered a position within the Immortal Flames. After a few years he was assigned to a task force which is what I'm planning to RP now!
The idea is that a task force has been started called simply 'Intelligence' that has jurisdiction over all of Ul'dah to investigate and put to justice cases that normal detectives can't handle. (Think of Chicago P.D the show in Ul'dah!)
What am I looking for in terms of Contacts: Well everything!
I need a partner, I need criminal informat's, I need antagonists, I need people willing to come to me with a case, I need specialists in different fields to consult (such as a blacksmith to help track a blade perhaps), and I need to make sure I'm not entirely off base here as I'm new to the Lore!

This all sounds pretty exciting, and I never tell people their characters sound exciting. I like what you're going for here. As for contacts, I have an alt that's been doing some Twilight Zone style detective work in Ul'dah for years now. He's not really partner material, but he'd be a good contact if your work ever strays that far into the bizarre. He's got a tone of realism (spooky things aren't commonplace and wacky fun, they're actually spooky) when dealing with the surreal (think X-Files without aliens). I don't play him too often, he mostly NPCs in my FC's stories or I use him in skype RP, but I could be convinced to log on with him to have a chat with an investigator if that's where one of your cases is headed from time to time.Â
The fact that you have real world experience with what you're trying to RP is pretty exciting to me (real life veteran, playing former knight, I can relate) so if you're looking for a FC, ours is very small and we're coming out of a very long hibernation right now, so we're still setting up shop and wiping the sleep from our eyes, but we'll be looking to recruit soon. We'll keep your name in the hat if you want. Our leader is RPing a former Brass Blade as it is.

As for RP, I could provide with with an antagonist, though I'm sure there are many. Lol. I currently RP a little imp of a miqo'te named Crate who has been running around causing problems all over the city-state. If you'd want to work something out, I'd be happy to pm you about it sometime.

@Uther: He sounds like a ton of fun, perhaps if Thibault gets something that he just can't understand he'll call in the ghostbust- *ahem* Your character. I actually have been looking for a FC already on the forums so please keep me in mind! Thank you for service as well as a veteran, I hope at some point we can do a scene.
@Noh: Awesome, please hit me up in game or on the site here. If I'm logged into the site I'm -probably- online in game as well.
@Askier: Drowning will be good I think! What I think I'm probably going to end up doing is if someone has a case/antagonist that they want me to RP they can send me a case dossier on the site or in game mail with details on what they want from the RP, how they plan for it to end and such! We'll of course work together throughout to make sure everything is still going fine, but that might make it a bit more organized?

I am excited about this post because the concept sounds like amazing potential fun -- and also because I am a fellow social studies teacher, hello! Welcome to the profession! It is less time consuming than being a researcher was, but the kids find ways to fill your schedule up all the same, haha.
This is a quick reply as I have to hurry and set up the classroom for the day, but what I can offer on a personal and FC level is the specialist angle! My FC, The Guiding Light, has its headquarters in Ul'dah and is focused on the use of knowledge to serve the Eorzean people. If we don't have the skill or expertise you are looking for, we are willing (I am willing) to go out into the RP world and find someone with it! Then drag them over to you.
Personally, C'io herself was once a tracker for the Flames, and now conducts her own research into various ancient magics and the social and otherwise reasons for why some of those magics are cast as "forbidden."
For antagonist coordination and criminal informants, while they are Shroud-quartered, I highly suggest talking to The Mischief's Coven, an FC that is built to help connect and OOC coordinate the criminal element to those in the community looking to use it in their stories!

They're a vigilante group and may be able to offer you some other connections via their linkshell. You'll want to get in touch with Deahfel for that- I link her post in my signature below.

This is all super cool and exciting! I don't have much to contribute right now unless you ever need a hunter's opinion on a case for whatever reason, but a month down the road, I might have something for you, especially if you're getting entangled with the Coven. Thanks everyone! Did some walking around Ul'dah last night, haven't picked up the first case quite yet but we'll see how everything goes.
Still looking for some other Law Enforcement RPers, if you're looking to do it right and have a ton of fun let me know and I'll bring you over to the good side, I have MUCH better cookies anyway. The amount of feedback and support is amazing so THANK YOU so much.
Now criminals, I would rather not make up your own crime so if you do something that would be put onto Thibault's desk, go ahead and write me up a basic scene summary and where you want the end game to go before I start me investigation.

Used to RP as Sultansworn and Immortal Flames related characters before. Glad to hear that someone is picking up Law Enforcement type of character since there are plenty of criminal characters out in Ul'dah. Kudos to you
I might join in on my alt probably and be some kind of Brass Blade (Though uniforms of theirs are not my thing haha)
