New to FFXIV, saying hello! - Tataraji - 03-16-2017 Hello, I've been roleplaying for some time, mosly on WoW and instant messages, I'm not new to the medium at all! I was active on Wyrmrest Accord for about 2 years, and after my character's death, I've felt like it was time to start something new. WrA was heavily polarized over politics and my group of friends had marched on, along with being burnt out on doing the same content. This is probably what brought me to this game after being curious about it, the class system seems to be amazing, not having to do several character grinds to play multiple classes. Plus, it's Final Fantasy! (The graphics are gorgeous, too). Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm excited to join this community and I'm going to transfer to Balmung once I finish leveling. I just wanted to ask one thing: will people be weirded out that I want to play a Lalafel seriously? I feel like their homely values would be interesting, especially something like a Dunesfolk tough guy who always is pulled into situations he doesn't want to get into. I know Miqo'te have a similar stigma and the "smaller" races in WoW always had the stigma of being joke characters. Thanks. RE: New to FFXIV, saying hello! - Nebbs - 03-16-2017 Look forward to seeing you on Balmung. But make sure to create 8 characters as the transfer will move all of them in one go so you never have to worry about alt slots. Lalafel are common and it is like being in a special club. Don't feel you need to avoid them at all. RE: New to FFXIV, saying hello! - Deahfel - 03-16-2017 Hello and welcome to the RPC and eventually Balmung! I don't think you would have any issues playing a serious lalafell in RP. I think all of the races have some stigma attached to them, but ultimately it is up to you to decide how you want to portray that character. Is there any particular reason you want to finish leveling on your previous server? Balmung has a very active PvE scene as well as RP. So you may just want to transfer when you have your character set up. You could look at things like RP Levelers linkshell where you can hopefully knock out both of your goals! Hope to see you around for RP and if you have any questions feel free to ask! I spent some time on WrA as well and it really did start to get really political as well as becoming very cliqued over the last year. Gnomes just gained the stereotype of being silly on there over time, Lalafellin shouldn't be hard to go serious with. If you're ever up for some out-of-game RP, just send a message my way, I'll usually respond quickly! Anywho, have fun with your stay here! RE: New to FFXIV, saying hello! - Thunderbolt300 - 03-16-2017 Hey there and welcome aboard the RPC and FFXIV! And there's nothing wrong with wanting to play a Lalafell seriously. They're not like Gnomes in WoW, anyway! |
