Well, hello all! I've been lurking for some time and now that it seems my stay on Gilgamesh is cemented solid, I'd like to say howdy.
For FFXIV, I'll go by the name Arcos. Seems right, since in FFXI that's what I went by as well. I used to post on the Shiva Server forums on allakhazam (infrequently, but still). FFXI will always remain my first love of MMORPGs so I'd really like FFXIV to succeed.
Anyway! Nice to meet you all and here's a little bit about myself:
--MMORPG background: Started with Final Fantasy XI (Shiva Server), then moved to Everquest 2 (Lucan D'lere), then to World of Warcraft (Feathermoon). I've played Lord of the Rings Online, Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, FFXIV 1.0 and Guild Wars 2, however I just ended up right back to World of Warcraft due to the friends I have there.
--RP experience: Started with PnP, then off to MMORPGs. I usually play good aligned characters ranging from chaotic to lawful.
--Character ideas/info: I'm still trying to develop my character. In WoW, I usually created the concept for my character before I start playing it. However, here I'm going through the storyline and using the experience to shape and define him. So his background is still a lump of clay at this point. Right now, he's shaping up to be someone who seeks power and renown. As much as I want him to help people because it's a good thing, it is starting to feel more like he wants to make a name for himself rather than being completely altruistic.
Also, I usually prefer my characters to be either tanks or damage dealers. I’ve played healer classes in SWTOR and TSW, however.
--How did you learn about the coalition?: When I was getting into FFXIV 1.0, I was searching around to see if there was a server that roleplayers would flock to. Found the RPC, but never was able to play 1.0 enough to really get involved with RPC.
--What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?: I would like to end up as medium and having a goodly amount of rp in my gaming sessions, but right now I'm focusing on grinding to 30. My rush also has to do with the fact I leveled to 20/15 once before in Phase 4, but wanted to reroll my character, which I couldn't until a day after Early Access started. I'll try to slow down, especially since a friend or two needs to get caught up, as well as other friends biting at the bit to get on Gilgamesh.
--Anything from real life you'€™re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc): I live in Hawaii. Which, um, makes my primetime come after everyone else's primetime so that gives me a 1% increased chance of being able to log in?
