Need Help with Creating Back Story - Rickter - 01-02-2014
Hi RPC!
I need some assistance in creating a back ground for my character. I have his personal life pretty down pat but i got to the point where i am trying to incorporate his Job with his background and im hitting some road blocks.Â
It is my hope that the community can help me out because i am not as "fluent" with the lore as i would like to be.
Basically, my character is a Hyur Highlander that is 36 years old. this would put his birth year at 1541. He is a Paladin so this is where i need help incorporating that portion of the story in.
The in game storyline puts you the Player Character as a "Free Paladin" - neither of nobility or high station, but a free lance adventurer not sworn in to the Sultansworn. I want my character to be a "Free Paladin" as well but the small detail i need is exactly what year did the Sultansworn start taking in just about anyone?
Previously, the Sultansworn only took in high nobility or social elite so i cant have my character joining their ranks too early. can anyone provide this information?

The game's storyline based around the 'hero', states that the Sultansworn stopped picking Free Paladins for some time but decided to restart not very long ago. There are no further details I remember. The biggest thing we have to find out is if in 1.0 Gladiators coudl become Paladins ( I did not play back then, so I have no idea if Jobs were implemented or not). If they weren't, we have to assume that Sultansworn stopped recruiting Free Paladins for somewhere around 10 years or more (or a bit less, I suck at chronology). If 1.0 players could become Paladins, though, that means they stopped recruiting them after the Calamity five years ago.
In either case, I think you can safely place your Sultanswornship in your character twenties without anyone raising any eyebrows.

From just a cursory check of the FF wikia's section on 1.0, Paladins were in it, though not until patch 1.21, when the advanced jobs (save for Scholar and Summoner, which only rolled around in 2.0 along with Arcanist) were first introduced.

so free paladins were around before the calamity but not at the start of 1.0?
that would put it around 5/6 years right?
