Commission pricing? - Faye - 01-06-2014 So! I'd like to start doing commissions in FFXIV both to raise some gil to save up for my FC's housing, as well as maybe earn some real money to help pay for my subscription because I will be broke as crap once I purchase my new gaming PC. So the purpose of this thread is to ask: how much would you pay/what is a fair price? Along with the usual concerns of, "How much is the quality of my art worth?", I'm particularly baffled because gil is so, uhh... inconsistent in FFXIV. I know some people at end game with millions, whereas I know others with less than 100k to their name. I'm thinking I'd like to charge $5 USD in terms of real money for my commissions, but... I'm totally lost in what a fair price would be in gil. Here are some samples--mostly commissions I did in the previous MMO I played. My commissions are just quick, uncolored bust/portrait sketches of one or two characters. That seems incredibly cheap for a full-body color portrait, seeing as most are often upwards of $25 USD in terms of real money. @_@ *goes to check* RE: Commission pricing? - Raeras - 01-07-2014 I really like your pieces! As for pricing, I would see how much the RMTs are selling gil for (I think it's normally per 100k? not sure, really don't pay much attention to the tells) since that kind of gives an idea of how much the gil is worth compared to USD. Take that in to consideration with how much other people are selling pieces for in USD/Gil and I'm sure you'll be able to come up something ^^ RE: Commission pricing? - Karaan - 01-07-2014 I recommend Faye, since I have 2 commissions from her that are still the background for both computers that I own ![]() RE: Commission pricing? - Hyakki - 01-07-2014 (01-07-2014, 12:37 AM)Faye Wrote:(01-06-2014, 10:35 PM)Kieron Lohengrin Wrote: judging from other artists' threads, 100k seems to be the average going rate for a full-body color portrait I think its situational, if you can put out a lot of commissions in a short amount of time cheap would be the way to go but if you can only do them on occasion then higher prices would be fine. RE: Commission pricing? - Faye - 01-07-2014 @Raeras - Thank you, and that's what I was thinking! I've heard that it's $25 USD for one million gil, but I'll have to look into it myself and see if it's accurate. @Karaan - Thank you! ![]() @Xieveral - Mhmm, my commissions don't usually consume much in the way of supplies, so I try to decide pricing based on how much time they take. The portrait sketches usually take about 2 - 5 days (that is, in terms of real time and not solid time spent working ![]() RE: Commission pricing? - Asgarn - 01-07-2014 I love your work!
