New role player seeking friends and an FC [Balmung] - Margulis Amell - 04-23-2014 Hi all, my name is Ian, I come from a pretty hardcore gaming background, mostly progression raiding and competitive PvP. As I get older I find myself a bit less extreme when it comes to those pursuits.  I have always loved creative writing, but I have never actually tried role playing in an MMO game before. I have played table top role playing games with friends and family, but never online. It is a unique challenge to role play a character and all his or her mannerisms live and on the spot, instead of for a story. I am looking for a mature group of folks who would be open to the idea of letting a newer role player join their group, link-shell, free company, or otherwise. My character is Margulis Amell, a Hyur Midlander Black Mage. His mannerisms and back story I am still working on, letting his interactions in RP shape his personality. I decided on a basic idea of him being rather eccentric, arrogant, and very proud of his power over black magic. When he sees greatness in others and thinks they do not flaunt it or shout it from the rooftops that they are wasting their potential. He is not mean however, in fact he actively encourages people to do their best and achieve their goals. He helps others, both citizen and adventurer alike, he just has an issue being modest about it. Obviously this is very basic, and I want to leave it as flexible as possible so he can grow and change as he interacts with the world and other characters. It's a lovely community we have here and I am sure you will find a lovely accomidating group easily enough. I've honestly only been in just two FCs but I've met a whole lot of great folks from a whole lot of FCs, some of which don't have much representation here! For linkshells there's always the various Intermission shells, which house lots of other RPers with whom you might get in touch with, and many FCs also have IC and/or OOC shells not exclusive to their FCs to foster similar interactions. I do like that Margulis is definitely very open to character growth and potential! One thing you might consider to help ground him out some (or just provide reference for yourself and others) is make a page for him on the lovely wiki. I agree about making a wiki page, even if just for your own reference. I found it really helped me flesh out my characters. We have an interesting structure catering to players with and interest in good aligned RP or not so good aligned RP. We're a smaller group (about 15 to 20 people) who are always will to help out PvE, RP, or what have you. Welcome I'm always open to /tells, but may not answer them as rapid since sometimes I'm in waaaay too much conversation between 2 active OOC (and one half IC) linkshells, and a few other things. If your character hangs out or likes Ul'dah, and especially the Quicksand/Adventurer's Guild area, you will most likely see a Lalafell. Many times. Perhaps more times than you will want to see him. If I'm not raiding or trying to cap Tomes, I'm always open to RP unless another RP will drag me away. I've got both feet heavy in PvE and RP and it's just so hard. I should have just Endgame RP... >_> Anywho, if you can't quite do much for your wiki, your character can still always grow and develop as you RP him more. I don't think I actually really put much into Kage's wiki until less than a month ago. He's mostly been developing as I RP with others. But the wiki definitely is a good place to have some clipboard and reference for yourself and people who might be interested in RPing with him.
