Man of Few Words (Mykaul) - darkendsol - 04-25-2014

(("Drabble -- A drabble is an extremely short work of fiction of exactly one hundred words in length, not necessarily including the title. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space."

I pretty much just write whatever comes to mind with the different prompts I receive. They are in no particular time order. Sometimes I'll write about his past, sometimes it's more current. They're a lot of fun, though, and I really like the struggle of staying at exactly 100 words and keeping it interesting. Got this idea from a friend, so here we go~!))

Hands-Off Healing

Mykaul squints in challenge at the disturbance hanging in the air. A toxin that would spread through the Twelveswood if left unchecked. His shoulder-length hair blows in the breeze as he draws upon the purer forces of nature. The Duskwight slowly brings his arms up, the wind picking up speed with each micro-movement.

Together, man and nature cast out the corrupted elemental. A smile spreads across his face as he Hears the cries of joy. "You are welcome, my friends. And I thank you for your gifts as well." With this, he turns to summon Draumond for home.

The Earth's Siren Song

The Duskwight wipes away sweat with his dusty glove. He scans the Western Thanalan area, eyes trained to hone in upon deposits. His connection with the natural elements increases his instincts, the very earth itself seeming to hum a melody. Though he can truly Hear the winds, the earth's voice is continuous groan.

Few are blessed to even Hear one element,so he is grateful for that much, at least. He listens closer. There, to the south-southwest. He smiles and as he walks over, careful to avoid attention of predators. He silently thanks the earth.

Relief

Mykaul was on his way up to Coerthas on a diplomatic engagement. Draumond had made good time, however. He could afford a few moments to check in on one he loves.

As he gazes upon Jintran'to's sleeping body, tears form in his eyes. Seeing the man so broken had broken the Duskwight as well. The thought of how much worse things would have been if Mykaul had been only a bell later in finding him...

Mykaul blinks his tears away. He did arrive in time. The sleeping Miqo'te was safely on the mend. All is well, he knows.

Making Peace

Mykaul's pride had been injured once more. Not only had he let the treasonous villains escape, but he felt like the last to know about... any of this!

He grimaces at his thoughts. They are eating at him. Kahn'a's words come to mind. "Be. At. Peace."

He takes a breath. He had called upon Mykaul. Wasn't that what mattered?

If secrets were the price he had to pay to accept Kahn'a as he was, then that was how he would take the Miqo'te. Nothing was worth losing the joy he felt, or even the pain. He nods.

The Duskwight clenches his orders in a fist to keep his hands from shaking.

"You want me to go where?"

The commanding officer's word fall over deaf ears as his mind races.

Mor Dhona. The Revenant's Toll. Mykaul feels his breath shortening with stifled emotions. "I... I see," he says, his own voice a foggy murmur.

Turning on a heel, the acolyte of White walks out of the Adder's Nest.

Not since the Calamity first struck. Since he lost one he might have loved. He takes a seat in the grass as he silently allows his panic to pass, unnoticed.

Curiosity

Mykaul stares at the cheap alembic with a tilted head. Such an odd device can truly produce toxins and cures alike? His curious mind races as he examines the object.

The Duskwight grew excited by the prospect of practicing such an esoteric art. Answers of cause and effect could be a focus for his wandering mind. Mayhaps he might even become a more able healer. That focus might very well divert Kahn'a's ire.

Mykaul sighs. He knows he has many questions. Questions the Miqo'te cannot and will not answer. He delves into the craft, easing his mind.
