Tempramental Tempering [Prompt] - CrookedTarot - 09-17-2014
Let's play pretend for a moment that we all aren't special snowflakes in the main storyline world for a moment and take a look at the Primals that are all out and about--there's quite a few. Some are more dangerous than others but the main theme when it comes to Primals is you do NOT want to be Tempered.
Ever.
But let's play pretend that your character(s) don't have the Echo. Let's say that out of all the Primals that have been revealed so far (including Shiva since she HAS been revealed), your character(s) must become Tempered by one for whatever reason.
Tell us, in your own words, which Primal they would not be--adverse to being Tempered by. List at least 3 REASONS OR TRAINS OF THOUGHT WHY. Try to avoid the most obvious reasons of 'Well he/she/it likes Fire so YAY IFRIT!' Elements are all well and good, but remember we're talking about selling your soul here--pretty sure (and this is just me) most folks don't want to sell their soul to another being because their symbolic color happens to match your eyes.
Of course, do the same for the Primal they would be most loathed (if they had to chose) to be Tempered by as well. Again, give at least two reasons why they would NOT want to be tempered (again avoiding the obvious response of 'well duh no one wants to be tempered').
For an added bonus/challenge, give us a situation where your character might willingly chose to be Tempered. It need not be incredibly detailed but list some sort of circumstance where they would be alright being Tempered by their chose Primal.

Titor would probably most likely be tempered by Ramuh.Â
1) Titor is a lawful good character, and absolutely despises lawbreakers/thieves/other evil aspects of the world. It really gets to him, and while he works in/with the Flames his ability to punish said lawbreakers is limited. Since Ramuh is very keen on Judgement, but seems to be called benevolent anyway, it lines up a bit on Titor's feelings, even if Titor is never able to unleash "Judgement"
2) Titor is pretty terrified of lightning and lightning aspects, however his aether is aligned to wind-lightning. Things never seem to go his way in terms of aspects so from his storyline it would make sense that he got tempered by a god of lightning.
3) Titor craves knowledge and wisdom, especially in terms of science and aether. Since Ramuh is known to be one of the wiser primals, Titor would be more drawn to this primal than the others simply for his wisdom and knowledge (Though Ramuh would probably not share any of this knowledge with Titor, it would be easier to temper him under the premise that Ramuh would)
Titor would hate being tempered by Leviathan
1) Titor hates water/the sea/anything to do with water or the sea. Aside from this dislike for it, he would probably never be in an IC location where Leviathan would be (unless Leviathan somehow came into land or Thanalan, where Titor mostly spends his time)
2) Most of the other people/creatures tempered by Leviathan would probably be pirates or sea-aspected beastmen. Again due to Titor's lawful good alignment, he really hates pirates and would probably be annoyed by and hate the rest of his tempered co-workers.
Way that Titor would likely be willingly tempered
Titor would probably be willingly tempered by Ramuh. The reason being that Ramuh would have to tell Titor how his goals were the same as Titor's (To cast judgement on the wicked, even if Ramuh's views are different than Titor's), and how Ramuh would impart his ancient wisdom and knowledge of the Aether on Titor only if he would be tempered. I could see Ramuh being deceptive enough to play on Titor's weak points and craving for scientific knowledge that he could probably get Titor to be tempered pretty easily.
The only thing that would not work so well with Ramuh is that he is primarily in the Shroud, where Titor is rarely. Also Titor really does not care much about the forest or nature, but he does not disrespect it. Titor's home is really Thanalan/the desert.

Alright, I'll bite.
If some unforeseen events happened which led Menelwen to being tempered, yet she was still given a choice by what primal took her, it would have to be Ramuh. There are a couple of reasons for this.
- Ramuh has shown to be the least hostile out of all of the primals and proving that they are capable of both thought and reason. When Ramuh's presence was felt within the Shoud, the Elder Seedseer did not panic, knowing that a compromise could be possible with the primal.
- With the above reason in mind, the only aggressive actions from Ramuh's have been from his children, and only when their territory has been invaded. Henceforth, Menelwen would only be sent out to "take care of trouble" if it was within the Sylphlands.
- Ramuh and his children are located in the Shroud, and being a Wildwood, its grounds are not foreign to her. If she were ever sent out of the Sylphlands, she would have no trouble getting around on her own.
- Of all of the primals revealed, Garuda has proven to be one of the most violent, in both her own actions and her children's actions. If Menelwen was to be tempered by her, she would quickly find herself within Coerthas or the Shroud, seeking to bring more sacrifices to the winged hellspawn.
- Using Menel's super snowflake powers for a moment, it is known that Garuda will go to any lengths needed for power. This includes kidnapping and murdering the other Primal's children, in the hopes that they will summon their god so that she may feast upon their aether.
- Wingless, Garuda's other children would, more than likely, sooner dispatch Menelwen then allow her to continue serving Garuda, as she is not capable of flight.
Bonus challenge time!
- It's either her or someone else. Really. If Menelwen was out on a mission, and the only way to make sure the majority of her squad made it out alive and untempered, she would order them to safer grounds before heading off into no-man's land.

Tarot would mostly likely be Tempered by Garuda.
1. Although Tarot is all about exploring the deep places of the world--and about personal gain from doing so--one would think that Titan might suit him. However, Tarot values his freedom far more and his ability to go anywhere and do as he pleases; as free as the Wind.
2. Garuda being regarded as one of the more powerful Primals in general would appeal to Tarot, given his own desires and superiority complex. He feels he is simply better and cleverer than most, and therefore, deserves to be recognized for his accomplishments and abilities. Aligning himself with one of the more highly regarded Primals in the 'food chain' would be too good to refuse.
3. Garuda's power comes from a mixture of subtlety and severity. She can distract and slowly whittle down her prey or blast them into shreds--her versatility in her powers chimes a chord with Tarot given his own desire to adapt and remain above everyone. Ready for everything, able to work every angle either subtly or not so subtly.
Tarot would hate being tempered by Ramuh.
1. Given the more lawful bearing of Ramuh, Tarot would be far more uncomfortable with having to follow rules--what's more, the fact that Ramuh keeps his interest in the Twelveswood and thus would keep Tarot there as well would drive him insane. He cannot abide rules anymore than he can abide being told he can't go where he wants when he wants.
2. The sheer brutality and lack of subtly in lightning would wear on Tarot's nerves too. While he loves a good thunderstorm, lightning bolts have no grace or charm--they strike and then are gone. No questions asked, you know every time when they've hit. He prefers to enjoy keeping his targets guessing even AFTER he's attacked them.
The way Tarot would be Willingly Tempered.
If Tarot found himself at the end of his rope, either without money or a complete lack of freedom, he would fall prey easily to Garuda's charms. The power of traveling freely, to do what he wanted and the promise to have this ability to move freely indefinitely protected would be enough to push him into serving the Wind Primal. The only stipulation would be timing; under no circumstances would Tarot enter into a contract from which there was no backing out unless he himself thought that it would be better to serve one master and gain a lifetime of freedom than to suffer in bondage of any kind.
