Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Kage - 11-12-2014 There's a thread in the official forums about an interview Yoshi-P had (at London Fanfest?). http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/203656-Gamewatch-YoshiP-Interview-Summary Regarding Samurai •They had an idea to make Samurai a tank. However because the Heavensward (I think they call it Souten no Ishgard in Jp) theme is dark, they felt a dark knight was more fitting for the role. •Inside of YoshiP the Samurai feels more like a DPS than a tank. •Since they released the Ninja job, they didn't want another Japanese style job •They decided to skip Samurai for now but since a lot of people request it they are still examining whether to add it in the future Implementation of Dark Knight •Strong image of FF Tactics and Ogre Battle •Image of the two handed swordsman Guts similar to that from the manga Berserk. •Thought about making it a DPS but ultimately settled on tank •Can't talk about why DK has no class •Will be available to chose at the start of the expansion Regarding unannounced job •Making the new job too simple is not going to be interesting. (Fixed, thank you AkirraKrylon) •If you look at FF series of the past carefully you can imagine what it will be •I will talk about it at the TokyoFanfest Other Stuff •Heavensward trailer has some 2.5 contents so some of them will be implemented before the expansion pack •It will be a connection to the current story like the current story did to 1.0 •Will talk a lot about patch 2.5 at Tokyo Fanfest •Odin battle will be added right after the fanfest is over. •The Odin battle at fanfest will be "hard mode" while an extreme mode will be implemented for the game. Regarding Flying Mounts •You will be able to fly over the entire map of the new area •However in 3.0 you will NOT be able to fly over the current game maps. •There will be no limit on the time it takes to fly (Fixed thank you bennyr) •Rewards will be given so that you can fly over the whole area right away •When you reach the level cap (new one?) it will be very rewarding •There will be adjustments made to mount variety. The basics are done but they are tweaking the gimicks and types. •There will be no air battles other than for story/cutscenes etc •You will not be able to fight field mobs in the air etc. •Adventurers will be able to go to the Dragon World Dravania (Thank you bennyr) •They keep their policy from 1.0 that you can go to places that have been "named" (aka you can't fly to a random unknown area?) Regarding the New Primals •Since we've mostly used up all the old classic FF primals we figured we'd do something new •Since Bismarck is a beast type, we decided Ravanna to have a cool insect type design •The battle is meant to include the new job which means the base level will be 60 RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Aldotsk - 11-12-2014 I always knew that Bismarck in Limsa Lominsa was just a Primal in disguise. It's no restaurant. Oh to be a FFT nut in FFXIV, a wonderful thing indeed. RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Kage - 11-12-2014 Also of note, http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/11/12/final-fantasy-xivs-yoshida-on-housing-test-servers-and-post-f/ Each new set of dungeons has featured a variety of armor pieces that many players want for glamour purposes; at the same time, several of the dungeons have also featured crafting materials that frequently drop instead of these pieces of armor (Aqueous Whetstones, Coke, Cooking Sherry, etc). Will anything be done to address this demand by players? Will the new dungeons also feature drops that are not armor? We have received this feedback from around the world, so we are already making our adjustments in Patch 2.4. We will continue to read up on the feedback we receive and make necessary adjustments in the future as well! *stare* RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Inessa Hara - 11-12-2014 DIRK KNIGHT! YAY!!! :D On another note, I wonder what play style Dark Knight will have. They said they were debating on making it a DPS instead of tank, so in my speculation, they will probably have an enmity generating rotation but will probably also have a DoT's and damage rotation to go with that maybe? I hope DRK becomes a damager tank that can deal solid DPS. RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Erik Mynhier - 11-12-2014 (11-12-2014, 04:28 PM)Inessa Hara Wrote: DIRK KNIGHT! YAY!!! Traditionally the DRK uses the "Darkness" skill, which uses HP to greatly increase attack. So it would not be a stretch to be a DD tank, if its VIT is high giving a large pool to draw Darkness from. WAR can already do this (I can crit 1.2k+ with unchained/berserk, and a pop of inner beast), so I'm really curious as to what DRK will bring. RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Warren Castille - 11-13-2014 Doubtful the decision to change from DPS to Tank was made during production. Speculation abound only because of the hard line SE's taken so far, but I don't expect DRK to be a hybrid dps/tank any more than WAR is. SE's taking care to not immediately replace old classes (see NIN fitting in nicely with MNK and DRG, not blowing them away) with new ones so it stands to reason DRK's mitigation will be on par with PLD and WAR and their DPS somewhere between the two. Important to keep in mind: SE most likely balances around endgame (Coil, currently) and not dungeons/quests. If DRK doesn't mitigate enough to be viable, it's not a tank. Likewise, if it mitigates just fine but also puts out DPS-like numbers while OT, it'll be changed. I've had Spirits break 1.1k with only FoF and slashing debuff. Doesn't make a DPS to spike on one hit, but I will concede that a str-focused WAR can do respectably when fully-kitted out. RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Kage - 11-13-2014 This... this curtana?? http://jp.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/blog/000853.html RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Warren Castille - 11-13-2014 (11-13-2014, 10:31 AM)Kage Wrote: This... this curtana?? ...oh my. Hindsight edit after the initial OOH SHINY: How the hell is that a cutted edge when it's covered in gold wax? RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Inessa Hara - 11-13-2014 Hrm... I read somewhere that DRK ICly would be Ishgard Knights who did not believe all the Dravanian were evil, but they are also realistic and will fight the Dravanian if they are acting evil and fulfill their duty as knights. I am already completely smitten by Dirk Knight. Now comes the hard part, I love Dragoon's as well so I cant decide. Actually though, that does bring up an interesting note though. Aside from the MPC (war of light) and the other Azure Dragoon, there are other Temple Knight with Dragoon soul stones that while they are not as powerful as the Azure Dragoon's, they can still utilize the power of the stones and have the ability to 'jump'. It would be a very interesting storyline for DRK if they were competing or had a rivalry with the Dragoons as since the Dragoons are said to lead the holy war against the Dragons, the DRK's would attempt to solve any conflicts against the Dravanians and attempt to be the voice of peace and reason when a Dravanian or a group of Dravanian do not wish to fight. Don't be mistaken: As the lore currently dictates, thinking a dragon is anything other than a blight on the planet is heresy, and they execute heretics without a thought. Also, if you could get a source on that DRK lore tidbit that'd be helpful. The original reveal didn't talk anything about lore and I didn't know there'd be commentary on it outside of Fanfest! RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Kailia - 11-13-2014 I believe I know what the new unannounced job will be. And all we have to do is look at the current clues:
Agent! Primary Weapon - Guns Armor - probably limited to the same type of clothing as rogues Abilities:
RE: Gamewatch Interview with Yoshi-P - Kage - 11-13-2014 All of that is speculation. Yoshi-P has kept DRK details very close to his chest. All we really know is that it uses dark magic power (possibly void-powers ala black mage almost) and two-handed great swords. A Dirk for the Dirk Knight. ((Sorry it's been used so much my twitching had to say something. Dark Knight Clearly instead of slashing things with curtana??? we poke them. Not like we don't use the broad blunt blades as smashing things either |
