It's not on a first-come-first-serve basis. I haven't applied yet (I'm not at home) so I don't know what information you're sending them, but if you send system specs, they're probably basing their decisions on that. If not, then I don't know what to tell you. Be patient, and expect that you might not get picked.

Alpha testing is necessarily exclusive, and turn around time for decisions on who gets in can take a while. Remember: It's not a club you're joining. The developers need to pick out people that they (a) think will be able to adequately test the system and (b) aren't going to go blabbing about what they see. To be quite honest, I'm surprised there's a public alpha invitation. They're usually done in-house, and with people the company trusts.
Just relax and be patient, but, again, expect not to get anything at all.

Since they need to fill about 1000 spots to keep testing zone/server stability with their goal of 1000 people in active battles simultaniously, and I think an eventual 5000 person server load, I can see why they're sending out Alpha invites to begin with.
