HOWDY!

I'm UltraFennec, as you can see by the handle up there I'm sure. I dillied and dallied around with FF14 back when it first released, and kept up for about...two, maybe three months after launch, playing intermittently, but the game was just so raw and frankly kinda bad at that point I left and didn't come back.

BUT I beta tested ARR for a bit, and I'm finally able to jump into the game proper now and excited to make some friends and meet new people and generally get up to the RP hijinks that make the game interesting when I'm not focused on the 'game' part of the game. Big Grin

I'm not new to roleplaying of any sort, whether in PnP games or freeform or whatever, but it's been since...well, whenever I last played my Dancer in FF11 that I made a concerted effort for it in an MMO, so I'll seem rusty I'm sure.Â

As for characters...I have a few hazy ideas so far and some wild names but other than that I'm just kinda blank-slate. Smile

What kinda communities we got goin' on here for someone laid-back and not uptight about nothin'?

In an attempt to avoid an Ylvis reference, I'll simply just say that you should totes (the kids are saying that now, right?) join the Balmung server...though the people on Gilgamesh, if that's your choice, are tight-knit and friendly.

Hello Fennec, welcome to the RPC

As Steel said, knowing what server you're on will make it easier to recommend what might interest you, both Balmung and Gilgamesh support RP communities, if you've already decided on one it would be a good idea to hop into the user control panel and list that server so people can see it on your little avatar.

Anyroad, I have some links i'd like to share, maybe you'll find something interesting, get an idea of whats out there and all that jazz.

This RP handbook by Eva is a great way to build a foundation of RP knowledge as she touches on a variety of view points. Be it learning from the group up, refreshing old knowledge, or taking a look at some Eorzea specific situations that you'd like to know how other people handled. As a note, an index is hidden in the spoiler tag at the top so you can get an idea of what topics are covered.

But maybe you're just interested in some community suggestions. While I could never really do justice to the breadth of groups, their interactions and goals [particularly the IC ones] I do think there are a two OOC linkshells that can serve to help get your foot in the door as far as meeting more people goes.

"Intermission" is like a gigantic chat channel filled with people of all different styles. You could talk about where people are, what events might be coming up, what jobs have good cross class skills and about pretty much anything else you might imagine. [Balmung]

"Balmungs Finest" is a PVE linkshell for people across the server to get together and clear dungeons, primals, raids and occasionally even find some people for FATEs. If you'd like to build connections with people through group content or are just sick of waiting 30 minutes in the queue as a DPS, this linkshell might be right for you.

Hope I haven't bored you to tears, there is so very much more out there. Jump into the forums and read an ongoing discussion, maybe browse some other peoples character wikis to see if you'd like to put up your own. Please remember to ask any questions, voice any concerns and comment on anything you'd like, there are plenty of people out there willing to give their opinion or chime in with some advice.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look up both those Linkshells, I think. Anything that gets me going on group content with less hassle is a win in my book! And having an OOC spot to congregate is always nice.

Steel Wolf, you sound cool and you like fennecs almost as much as I do apparently, we should totes hang out. :3

Welp I've been having some WEIRD errors today, but hopefully before the apocalypse comes I'll actually get a character to show up properly as created and get in the game...right after I redo ALL my network settings to make sure it's not my end disconnecting things right when I push the button. Sad
